I wouldn't seeing as it's a Fox / Disney title.

Just watched it again on my Sony x800m2, no issues whatsoever (I must have bought mine about 8 years ago). Sorry to state the obvious but have you checked for fingerprints, dust particles... etc...?

Unfortunately, considering it's a Fox film, the wait is likely to be rather long...

Also what exactly would the video file for the P in P 4x3 version be on the disc? I tried to locate it for possibly trying to view it by itself without seeing the widescreen version, but was unable to do so. Please point it out to me as to what the file(s) for it are on the disc, and mainly how to turn on the audio for the P in P. Thanks.
I bought the disc today and have exactly the same problem..
Anyone?

Set the audio output in your Blu-ray player to PCM instead of Bitstream, if you haven't already done that.

I happily own this film, but haven't watched in in a while. Now I'm nervous. I'll have to pop it in soon and see what happens. As Disney now owns the rights to it, I tend to doubt it will get a 4K release. It may not even get anymore releases, I wouldn't be surprised, but I hope that isn't the case.

Apparently Fox spent a lot of money on restoring this film, but never released the Blu-ray outside of America (where it was region A locked), I never understood that.

Thanks,
But.. it didn’t solve the problem.
What did help was setting the secondary audio ‘on’ in the audio submenu, but thanks anyway!

I bought this disc second hand and there are no issues whatsoever. No freezing, no hickups.

Tried playing my Special Edition copy last night and nothing. DOA. Tried three players and two bluray computer drives. Nada. This disc is cooked. What a shame as I was in a perfect mood to watch this film.

I ordered a copy thorugh my library system. I'm curious to see what happens when in come in...

Watched last night and my disc had two or three very brief technical glitches, stuttering or pixel issues, that lasted maybe a total of two seconds.

The colors seemed kinda diluted but maybe that was my projector. Doubt we’d ever get a new scan and restoration but would love to see one. Victor Mature steals the movie. Very eager to see the sequel he’s in.

The sequel is a lot more entertaining. Less reverent and much closer to the tone of one of Cecil B. DeMille's campy biblical epics. Victor Mature is the star here and the movie is about his corruption by Susan Hayward.

Only thing is the restoration isn't very good.

Indeed my BD (the first Robe release) went bad years ago, it still had a mirror clean surface The first sign was trouble getting past the bd start menu on blu ray players but it still played,6 months later it was dead. Still would play on my pc LG blu ray drive but only for another few months Managed to rip it only on the 8th process try with fab on that LG drive and that bd file has on playback a little pixelation error for a second So i assume that was the location of the disc rot.Almost waited too long to do it.Even if you could just buy a new bd disc from a title (when possible) it's still annoying when discrot happens.

Really liked Demetrius and the Gladiators. Interesting story and even more interesting is where the Hayward character is left at the end. Not what I would’ve predicted. The gladiator scenes are a lot of fun. Score is better in The Robe but the sequel would be my preference overall.

Glad you liked it. Susan Hayward was a standout in this movie imo. The first time I watched The Robe, I felt very bored, expecting something more like Samson and Delilah or The Ten Commandments. It made me not eager to watch the sequel but I'm glad I did because it has a lot more entertainment factor.

I've watched my copy of The Robe twice in the past six months. No playback problems, thankfully. I've backed the film up to my hard drive just in case, though.

It was on the BBC in the UK on Good Friday (no ad breaks) & I recorded it, & it got me thinking that it's about time I bought the Blu-ray (£15 delivered new from eBay). For some reason Fox only ever released it in America region A locked, but I have a multi-region player now. As for the film, I find the first half very good, but the second half is a bit of a drag, but it'll be good to own it.
