I think that is highly likely. Enterprise was shot widescreen and HD, so it is the most likely candidate for a blu release. TNG, DS9, and Voyager may never see a release.

You think because of the price and work of transfert? I am sure Paramount would still have the original master of the special effects? Would they truly have destroyed that?

My understanding is that like many 80's TV series, STTNG was edited in beta format and all SFX rendered what way, therefore, as beta is akin to regular SD only without compression, (ie 480i or 480p) it's totally unfit to 1080p HD.

To properly reissue these, they would need to go back to all the edits logs, assuming they were documented, then find the original 35mm shots that ended up in each episode, re-edit them shot by shot using the original edits as guides, and redo the SFX in HD as they would be missing from the 35mm elements.

From wiki "The filming negatives were scanned in a straight-to-video device". But then, they can probably re-edit the whole series into new cuts with brand new special effects, scanning back all the elements again in 2K or 4K, remix the whole lot in 7.1, the fans will lap it up and even non fans would probably turn up by curiosity.

The updated info from the digital bits indicates that in the US it will be the 6 set boxset. And they will be the theatrical releases.
So that means that the cover posted on this thread will not look like that for the USA movie release since it can't say "trilogy" if we are getting a 6 set boxset, correct?

Man I wish they would do a TNG-R and have EdenFX do the FX shots! That would be amazing.

What I don't understand is how Aasia already released Star Trek on October 30, 2009 in all the major retail stores like HMV. I bought a copy and the quality is awesome.

Hi,

I'm sorry if this question has been asked already.

On the seasons blurays, is there any way to "Play All Episodes" on a single disc?

Thanks.
