Wow, fourteen years already since MG was released. It really doesn't seem that long ago at all.

If they choose to come out with a 15th Anniversary edition next year with some nice additional supplements, such as looking back at the influence of the film and such, then it will be mine.

And as much as I love Clueless -- and I do -- I don't think it's even close on this one.
I love it too. I paid to see it three times in the theater in 2004 and I rarely see a movie more than once in the theater. I was crushing heavy on Lacey Chabert (Gretchen) back then and she is the main reason I went to see it, but I fell in love with the film and the other four girls with the first viewing. I would love a 15th anniversary Blu-ray release in 2019, but sadly, I don't foresee Paramount having any interest in doing it. If by miracle, a new release does surface I would love a new 4K transfer, a commentary with Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan (if she's coherent), and Lizzy Caplan, and maybe some new interviews.

Just for the record, I love Clueless too, as well as Heathers, Jawbreaker, and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.

Now that I think about it, Criterion has released Paramount titles. Maybe Mean Girls and Clueless could get the Criterion treatment?

I was 24 when it was released. I turned 25 three months later. Now I'm 38 going on 39.

I've been meaning to pick up a copy of this for ages; perhaps it's finally time to take the plunge.... (Heh, heh.... can't resist posting these to commemorate the anniversary):

It looks like both Mean Girls and Clueless are currently OOP. Paramount hasn’t reissued them since their deal with Warner ended. Still need to pick up both, and I’m sure they can still be found cheap if you look, but I’m holding out on some kind of reissue.

Huh, I hadn't noticed that. Ah well, I just sent for a copy through Amazon: cost about $10.00, including the shipping. Not a huge bargain, but not bad---am looking forward to checking out the bonus material, which I've never seen since I've not owned this on disc before.

It's actually pretty pricey to get now. Not too bad, but I was shocked. Was looking to upgrade from my (fullscreen) DVD.

Odd that Mean Girls is out of print. Maybe they’re trying to push streaming / digital. Or maybe there’s a new edition coming out

In any case, I don’t think it’ll be hard to get a copy at the mall in a movie store or even on eBay. I’m glad I have my copy that I bought almost ten years ago (!).

With how popular the musical is, I wouldn't be surprised if they release some sort new edition soon, maybe even 4k... but they'll probably wait for 15th next year. I don't see why 1) they'd have let it go out of print and 2) they wouldn't have reissued it with digital by now if they weren't planning something for a new release.

Or they could be weird like Disney and release 15th anniversary in the 16th year. The 10 year anniversary of 10 Things I Hate About You was 2009, but they didn't release the 10th Anniversary Edition until January 2010...

Hmm. The DVD is readily available direct from Paramount. The Blu-ray is not and there is a musical out now based on it. Oh, and Criterion does have quite a few Paramount releases.

Woah. When did Mean Girls go OOP?? Now it's up to $50. I should've picked it up, but it just sat in my wishlist forgotten about. I've checked everywhere: Amazon, BestBuy, Second Spin, Family Video, B&N, Target, FYE, eBay....

I'd love it if Criterion released Mean Girls and Clueless.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (Universal) would be another choice of mine.

I think you mean it'd be fetch.

Has Criterion done a 4K though? I feel like Paramount would probably want to do a 4K before Criterion would be able to get another version of the BD out.
