So frakkin true lol! I went from a 32" [albeit I was living in an apt then] to a 40" [when I moved to my own place] to a 50" Elite, within the span of 14 months. My wife's gonna kill me if I even look at another TV in the next 5-6 years.

Thanks! Got it from BestBuy for 25 Benjamins. No dead pixels, no dirt, manufactured in Jan 09 so comes with the new firmware. Just finished watching Kungfu Panda on it and I actually got teary eyed at certain scenes. God it makes everything look more beautiful then I could have imagined.

Pioneer Could Re-Purpose Kuro Brand
By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 2/27/2009 1:01:00 PM "Parsons explained that the market was simply no longer sustainable. “We couldn’t find a point in the future where it would be a viable business that was sustainable economically.” It was difficult to sell a high-end TV in the midst of aggressive price erosion, and then the economy “hit us very hard, frankly,” "It is possible that the Kuro brand could appear on other products in the future. “We’re still looking at how to leverage the Kuro brand. For us, we don’t want to lightly throw that brand around” unless a product reflects “what the whole Kuro philosophy was about,” he said." "Pioneer claimed it is not altering its distribution and will continue to service TVs for as long as each state requires if not longer. In California, suppliers are required to supply parts for seven years, he said." http://www.twice.com/article/CA6640689.html |

My family members were going to wait and purchase a 10th generation Pioneer plasma until Pioneer announced they were existing the TV business. Now since the 10th generation will never happen my family members just purchased a Pioneer PRO-141FD. After comparing the Pioneer PRO-141FD to the Sony KDL-55XBR8 and Samsung LN55A950 the Pioneer has a better picture quality especially when watching the display from different viewing angles (The Pioneer PRO-141FD had a better picture quality over every other model I looked at). Picture quality is my main issue but cosmetically the Pioneer PRO-141FD looks better also, the Sony KDL-55XBR8 is almost 6 inches deep (5.9 inches deep) compared to the Pioneer PRO-141FD which is only 2.5 inches deep. Most likely in 2 or 3 years there will be another flat panel display that matches or beats the PRO-141FD picture quality but I did not want to wait 2-3 years longer. Many of my family members and relatives I know keep their TV's for 20 years or longer. Perhaps in 10 years I will upgrade the 60 inch PRO-141FD with a 4K 100+ inch ceiling mounted front projector or 100+ inch 4K quality flat panel screen. If I would have had a dedicated dark home theater room I would have went with a Front Projector like the Pioneer PRO-FPJ1 or a JVC LCOS Front Projector instead of a plasma screen. One day I might move and get a home with a dedicated dark home theater room.
I see the Pioneer PRO-141FD Elite Signature series that I just installed last Friday has a manufactories date of November 2008 with hand inspected parts certificate included. The 100% Japanese engineered Pioneer was assembled in the United States using both USA and imported parts. Out of the box the Pioneer has a beautiful picture at its factory settings but in the future I am going to need to calibrate the display to get the best picture possible. The installation of this display went perfectly with no technical problems. I have a lot of other models and brands of displays I have installed for friends and relatives and I have ran into all kinds of problems like HDCP incompatibility issues, remote control issues, and all kinds of problems. The great thing about the Pioneer PRO-141FD installation is everything worked. The picture quality with deep black levels is awesome when watching BLU-RAY discs encoded at 1080p/24. The camera pans with fast moving objects on the screen are smooth with a film quality look at 72Hz on the Pioneer. Now when I see camera pans on other displays that have 3:2 pulldown the jerky camera pans are disturbing. The Pioneer monitor did not look as good with Verzion FIOS compared to BLU-RAY but still the 1080I HD quality on Verizon FIOS looked very good and the reverse 3:2 pulldown on the Pioneer made the image look more like film. To get the ultimate experience on the Pioneer one needs to own a BLU-RAY player. Also Verizon FIOS has better picture quality compared to Direct TV and Comcast HD channels do to their higher bandwidth 100% fiber optics to the side of the house. The current BLU-RAY movie discs are encoded with conventional 24 bit RGB, I noticed that all the 9th generation Pioneer Kuro displays support up to 36 bit Deep color, so if and when a future improved BLU-RAY disc format offers 36 bit Deep Color the Pioneer displays will display the finer color depth. The Pioneer product is a head of its time offering film quality true 24P refresh rates at 72HZ and up to 36-bit Deep Color support.
