thanks big daddy. we now know which def tech speakers you own and that they were the top of line def techs from three different posts.
... for anyone drawn to the more conventional directional speaker, def tech's mythos line is splendid as well. paired with a supercube or two and you'll have a terrific sounding setup. the bipolar def techs are grand as well, but keep in mind that all of the models with built-in subs really ought to be paired with an additional, separate sub for optimal performance. |

The Mythos line are really nice as well and in my opinion have really nice WAF thanks to their slim and slick design. If I hadn't really enjoyed the bipolar sound I would've looked at them a lot more. |

If anyone lives near the NJ/NY area, 6th Ave Electronics sells a PAIR of BP6s for $297. For both. The only thing is you have to go to the store to get them, so they will try to sell you cables to make some money.

Last night I experimented with removing the toe-in that I'm just automatically used to giving to speakers, and it really seemed to open up my soundstage. I was surprised, since I am already used to these speakers really filling the room well. There was one seating spot that I was never quite happy with, and a simple squaring up of the speakers has made a big difference to me. |

Some speakers are designed to have no toe-in or just sound better without a toe-in like your Bi-polar speakers, which are intended to spread the sound around the room. The SDA effect on my Polk's will not work if they are toed-in. Some speakers even sound better with a toe-out.

End result- just make sure you experiment and don't accept what worked for an old setup will for the new! |

I'm looking at picking up some 450's and was wondering the best combo for them? Would 7 of them be best? or say pair of them for front l/r, clr series center, pair 450's for rear surrounds, pair of bipolars for side surrounds?
I'm leaning towards going with 7 450's as they would match all the way around. |

I would only use it as a center if you're going to keep it vertical- I wouldn't lay it flat. I honeslty haven't listened to these personally. If you like the sound, I say go for it, but I'm kind of surprised that you're not sticking with either the BP series or the Mythos- those are kind of the big two lines.
Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with the DT brand, so again if you like the sound go for it. Be aware though that Def Tech exaggerates their specs on the low end- I think they use their overall frequency response range as their reference point instead of the "industry standard" +/-3db. That's not a bad thing overall- they're still excellent speakers. They have a recommended crossover point on the website of 50hz, which is a little more realistic. I'm guessing you may want them at 80hz, however. |

Ugh there's a guy I know that's selling his 7004's for $800 for the PAIR. Considering they're about that much EACH, that's a serious steal. They're 6 months old and are apparently in fantastic shape. He's selling the matching center for $275 as well.
... I don't have the money, but that's a hell of a deal. I'm killing myself trying to decide if I want to stretch the budget or not. |

I just got some BP7006's w/ the built in sub, and The C/L/R 2300 center. I'm running a Pio SC-05. What Deft Tech surround rears would sound the best with my system?? Deft Tech BP1.2X's or BP2X'S?? or would you reccomend a different speaker??? when you moved up to the BPX's do you get bass?? I heard that surrounds with built in bass would be great.
Speaking of bass what Sub would you reccommed?? |

Anyways, I have all definitive speakers. BP8s C1 and BP2X and a 12 powered sub I cant remember the model # of. My dad had a Bose set up he thought was the greatest thing in the world. His stuff died so we hooked up my stuff to his stereo. When i moved out and got my apt, we went to Audio Connection so he could buy a full deftech set up. |
