Boy, The Matrix sure had a huge effect. Just think how much money the HD DVd promo group spent on advertising "The Matrix" and yet they fall further behind in sales. I know JTK has said this a thousand times but the BDA can really end this thing this xmas if they get their act together. The $64,000 question is will they?
Honestly, they NEED to.

Stomp the cockroach. Nuke it. Just get it done already.

But...but...but Gary...don't you know that Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3 suck and bombed at the Box Office? C'mon, you saw those threads in the AVMS BDforum so therefore it must be true, right?

Of course, those two movies "bombed" to the tune of $1.2B YTD last time I checked (800MM SM3, and 400MM POTC3).

I don't think everyone will be saying how great The Matrix 2&3 are but they probably will be saying woo-har! Look how much better the Blu-ray first week sales are!

I'm not a fan of the Matrix series. That being said, I believe BD fans who are have every right to laugh since this continued favoring of HD DVD by WB STILL cannot put HD DVD ahead. I'm also tired of the vocal minority of HD DVDers monopolizing the Bd threads on every forum but here and "predicting" sh!t out of left field (like a Matrix win) when history has proven BD will outsell HD DVD.

So, you'll have to excuse us for laughing at these people and enjoying the great camaraderie we have here at the BD forum.

If only consumers purchased discs instead of the studios being totally reliant on film critics and HD DVD fanbois for Blu-ray disc sales.

As we all wait for the spectacle of Evan Almighty.

Gary

P.S. Did you know Wild Hogs (Disney) has made $240 million worldwide?!

Uh, no. You are incorrect. You can look through my post history and see that I have been highly critical of Warner releases be they on BD or not. Why? Because they are usually soft, smoothed over, bit starved, rubbish, VC-1 encodings ported over from HD DVD with lossy sound no less. I really don't expect The Matrix to look that great despite the biased HD DVD fanboy 5/5 reviews.

Sorry 'bout that!!! You know, now that I think about it, I think Robert may have to sweeten the deal a bit for HD DVD to catch up. I think effective immediately he should offer triple boxing. Since you have to boil HD DVDs to play them, I would think you would just want to be absolutely sure nothing happens to your $300 POS from Toshiba. You never know, they may have to start boiling the players too if they get damaged during shipping...

But you should mention this too if we have a better format and which by all means,We are talking Technical and superior technology over HD-DVD,For this reason and only this reason I like BD and especially now POTC IN extraordinary release makes HD-DVD have a big sleep....now the question is and i'm sure warner can do it if and only if MATRIX ON BD has been released LIKE POTC? What will Happened BD will outsell HD-DVD by hundred miles ahead.

BD is Victory IN high Definiton

WB tried to pull a Universal here. Instead of waiting and releasing on both formats on the same time, they saw an opportunity. When the Blu-ray people were busy buying Pirates, the HD-DVD people could focus solely on The Matrix. Maybe they still feel they made the right decision but somehow I don't see it that way. They could have created an event around The Matrix HD release. Instead it was treated as a crumb to the HD-DVD owners. A big crumb, but nothing more.

Universal, your HD-DVD business plan stinks!

I think a lot of people have also posted their opinion that if Warner had released The Matrix on Blu-ray it would have been a huge success.

They are definitely the sort of films that the PS/3 demographic would go ga ga over. For kick starting more PS/3 usage, The Matrix WILL be a great title assuming Warner doesn't do a Total HD abomination with it.

In the Home Media Magazine (with the Neilsen Videoscan #'s for the week ending May 27 2007) it also states on page 26:

http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/ques...0307/index.php

"Sources say the Blu-ray version of 'The Matrix' trilogy won't be released until 2008"

I guess i'm just gonna have to wait. Patience is a virtue!

It won't be a screwjob IF those Matrix BD's end up being superior to their HD-DVD counterparts in every conceivable way.

Big IF given Warner's approach thus far.

I expect their ultimate interactive experience WILL be missing. We won't have to boil our discs.
