I agree with that. This is especially true after seeing them all again. Episode I and II are kind of a waste in the senses that you mention. Still fun eye candy, though.

Haha, technically one could start with Episode IV and infer the rest - most of us did so for decades...

It's pretty much a given that GL is going to tinker with his BR versions of Star Wars - I can only hope that he goes back and updates the CG that was shoehorned into Eps 4-6. It was fun at the time, but now stands out a little. Updating the CG would hopefully help it blend a little more smoothly.

Personally I can't wait to pick out all the HD details in the practical sets, puppets, miniature models, etc (if it hasn't been digitally scrubbed clean)...

True, and doing it that way is the only way the twist in Episode V even works. You can't start out with Episode I, watch them all the way through, then be caught by surprise when Darth Vader is revealed to be Anakin Skywalker.

I know this sounds mean but I will get this the first day it comes out, even if I have to shove other people out of the way to get the last copy.

I remember reading a while ago (2005?) that Lucas was working on 3D versions of all films and releasing them 1 per year starting with A New Hope in (at least) 2010. This was before blu-ray won the format war, so I'm wondering if these are still his plans, if he's scrapping those plans to do blu-ray.... or if he's doing 3D blu-rays?!?!

(Recent announcements - from 2008 - still mention 3D, but not blu-ray)

Just finish watching Empire, so far after viewing them I would rank them in this fashion, base only on PQ of the DVD in my Samsung BD player.

1.Revenge Of The Sith
2.Empire Strikes Back
3.A New Hope
4.Attack Of The Clones
5.Phantom Menace

Not the *only* way...you could go the "Godfather II" route, and watch them in this order:

4
5
1
2
3
6

or for a more condensed version (recognizing that I and II are largely superfluous)

4
5
3
6

The idea in both is that we start with Luke and Han and Leia, get to "the big twist cliffhanger", with Luke's question: "Ben, why didn't you tell me?" and then we flash back to learn the answer to that question. It even makes a huge surprise at the end of Episode III when we learn Luke and Leia are brother and sister, as opposed to that awkward reveal in Episode VI. And after seeing Anakin fall to Palpatine trying to save those he loved, it adds fuel to the fire during the concluding duel in Part 6.

I really think 4, 5, 3, 6 is the best way to watch the saga, with 1 and 2 thrown in for those who want a "completionist" view of the saga.

I think the best was to watch the saga is over and over again. But that's just me.

In all seriousness though, i'd recommenf watching them in the order they where released.

You mean with the left and right music surrounds screwed up, like on the DVD release? The DVDs were defective, with rear right and rear left surrounds accidentally swapped for each other.

Hopefully its better than that.

I suppose if someone never saw the movies before watching them

4-5-6-1-2-3 would preserve the big surprise of the series

if you've seen them so many times you can actualy say the lines of the actors before they say them (like someone who will remain nameless ) I guess it's better watching them

1-2-3-4-5-6

I agree, so by the time you get to 4,5 and 6 you forget the 1st episode

I dont know why everyone hates 1 so much. I think it may be my favorite. At least my favorite villain.

Well now you've gone and done it Pat.. I'm going to have to sit down and watch all 6 DVDs now on my new HD projector, to judge for myself

That is, IF I ever get my Onkyo amp out of the shop. It's been in there a month, trying to get the blue-dot syndrome fixed. What a PITA.

Eps III should look monumental @ 1080p on a 110" screen... teehee

Just completed my run from 1 to 6. Finish Return about 10 minutes ago, now my view on the DVD are like this

1.Revenge Of The Sith
2.Empire Strikes Back
3.A New Hope
4.Attack Of The Clones
5.Return Of The Jedi
6.Phantom Menace

I guess Phantom will probably need the most work when turning it into Blu. I cannot wait to get these 6 movies on BD, some stunning scenes in those movies that will look amazing on BD.

Well I should be good for a while now, got my Star Wars fix, will probably need another by July
