I'm still debating it..... I will probably be debating it all the way to Best Buy on Tuesday. I just don't know. I want to see more user reviews or a real review before I commit. After all, I'm not rich like some of you big ballers that have 500 Blu-rays. I have to be picky. I will definitely grab Braveheart, though. No question there.

Last week I would have paid for this release, if only to get a copy in my hands and judge the issues for myself. From my perspective, all indications pointed toward the truth lying in between the world is falling crowd and those who would have none of it. All it took was Bill Hunt to chime in with the first real credible review to finally put all the speculation to rest – and with that one post I was relieved of any desire to have the disc in my hands, at least in the short term.

I had the German steelbook on pre-order, but have put those plans on hold for the time being. I really want to get a sense of where this is all heading. I know a recall isn’t likely, so I may pick this up, but not now, and not at the current price.

All that’s left is to waiting for Braveheart’s arrival in the post.

This is an unnecessary thread. No offense to the OP (and i do mean that seriously) . There are other Gladiator threads out there:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=gladiator
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=gladiator
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=gladiator
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=gladiator
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=gladiator
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ight=gladiator

and many more. the reason i say its unnecessary, its because this is more work for MODS to fix problems. Sure threads above don't discuss what you are talking about down to the point but a simple search, and you guys could post there after modifying the thread upon request.

If anyone is offended by this post. I offer my apologies sincerely, I just see more headache and more unnecessary work for the moderators.

I had planned on getting it on Tuesday but now I'm passing after reading Bill Hunt's review. I've found his reviews to be spot on and I stand with the folks who want to encourage quality blu-ray releases and discourage 2nd rate releases.

That review put the kibosh on me getting it on Tuesday as well.

I'm teetering, as we have a rather nice looking steelbook release over here... if it were not for that I'd dump my pre-order immediately.

Sitting on the fence at the moment... grumpily!!!

plus what do you need reviews for. Its Gladiator for god's sake.

the best movie in the last 4 years. I know the movie came out before 4 years ago, yet no other movie in the past 4 years met to its standards.

I am also a hardcore Ridley Scott fan, so my opinion is biased.
I was just kidding. In all honestly I have never seen Gladiator in my life.I just dont want to buy a blu ray disc that looks bad.If the video quality and sound quality is good I will buy it(based on reviews)if not I will just rent it.

This is arguably NOT better than the DVD, since the DVD contains the entire movie, and didn't erase details. Even if it is, this is subpar, and completely undermines the promise of Blu-ray, and buying it only helps guarantee future cock-ups like this in the future.

This is the difference between buying something because it's new and doing it because it's great.

This board is incredible sometimes. No one in their right mind should support this crap.

Well it's certainly good enough for me, and I can pretty much guarantee you that this is going to be one great selling Blu-ray. There's no doubt at all that this is better than the standard DVD, and that makes me one very happy consumer.

Much better quality releases out there that will earn my hard earned dollars. Will pick up Braveheart however.

Bloody hell. I just saw a comparison screenshot of an HDTV broadcast with the Blu-ray where the arrows have been processed out of the Blu-ray version. One would hope there will be enough pressure on Paramount to fix this problem. Disney seems to have ignored all the criticism of Gangs of New York.

Well if you are not fussy just keep your DVD as I am doing and use your money more intelligently on another purchase.

Or maybe you don't own the DVD?

I must agree with you. I am buying it as soon as I can get to Best Buy on Tuesday, and Braveheart will be a purchase for me that same day. If Ridley Scott had anything to do with Gladiator being put on blu-ray I have no worries. Blade Runner The Final Cut, I rest my case.

Mine is not to reason why sir, who am I? I digress..... My reply to those who doubt Gladiator will look good....

I see. In that case, if I was you, I'd wait for the Blu to be "on sale" and get it cheap
