Add another one to the cancelled crowd.. the lack of reviews has me concerned, along with the post above mine.

Some of the HD extras are cool and the captains table summit shot in 1080i is very good with patrick stewart, johnathan frakes, nimoy and shatner discussing together their respective expeiriences on trek.
Cool, thanks for the info. My favorite is 1 probably followed by 3, 6 and 5. So, I almost lucked out but too bad about 6 I guess.

The first release of Search For Spock is what I consider one of the better SD DVDs for PQ and AQ in my collection considering its age. I'm really really interested in checking out the quality on this BD most of all to see how it was handled.

Thanks Russell for your opinion of the quality. I look forward towards reading more opinions down the road.

That is the safer course of action. Word has it that some reviewers have started to receive their copies. Hopefully we will begin to see opinions soon from them. I'll take one movie at a time instead of them screening them all and then posting. The latter would be a daunting task and obviously quite time consuming.

Honestly at the beginning of the week I was ready to hold off on this. but I don't know, maybe it's because I’m hyped on JJ’s film (I believe "have a boner for" is the correct term) and I really want these in blu...I’m more leaning towards now picking them up on Tuesday

I think it also helps that I got a best buy gift card on Wednesday, so the set is only going to cost me 70 bucks

I got in on the DVD Empire deal of $43.78 for all six movies. So, at $7.30 per movie there is no way I will cancel

I still cannot believe DVD Empire didn't cancel all of these orders. At this price, even if only 3 of the movies are good you are still paying less than $15/movie!

Oh well... I no longer have the DVD's... so I might pick them up... or I can hold off for 6 months and see if something new/better is released when JJ's Star Trek is released on Blu-Ray.

I actually cant wait to get the first 6 movies. Since it was said that Khan was restored, I am interested on seeing what was done with it. I was able to get the DVDEmpire deal....so even if a couple of the movies are not so good....the DVDEmpire price made it more than worthy to get.

Ditto. I'll wait and make my own judgement call.

But either way, way too good a deal to cancel.

I will get them at $80 a week after it comes out, not in a hurry to get them, will watch them right away after they get here though. Haven't seen any of them in a good long while, I think.

You should print out the Wal-mart.com price and have Best Buy price match, mine does, and get it even cheaper.

Further to me previous post. This set is definately worth picking up. If you want transfers akin to the highest quality modern movie on blu then you'll be disappointed, but if you want a pretty decent blu ray set then this is it. Most of the extras from the previous dvd's as well as new HD featurettes add to the quality of the set. It could have come out a lot lot worse than this so i dont get all the negativity about this set? I'm generally pleased with it. Could it been better?,..sure..but there's always gonna be something about a blu which isnt perfect. And if you buy the discs seperately then you dont get "the captains summit" blu disc which is 70 mins of the shat, nimoy, frakes, goldberg and stewart!

Toshiba 42" LCD with Res+
Panasonic BD-35
PS3 60gb
Denon 5.1 amp/speakers.

We haven't received a review copy yet, so it won't arrive until Monday at the earliest now. Unfortunately we won't get this reviewed until late next week either way at this point.

In the meantime I suggest going to see the new movie.

There is a review of Star Trek The Motion Picture at denofgeek.com
He wrote: "On Blu-ray, the film generally looks fantastic."
I assume reviews on the other films will follow.

I'm looking forward to reading the review here at blu-ray.com --- hopefully soon.

In that case your opinion is seriously flawed. I find it to be a great improvement over the DVD version.

I can't understand much of the posts here about the quality of these titles. Bear in mind that these were shot mostly on 1980's / early '90's filmstock, you aren't going to get any better. I find this set to be a great improvement over the DVD versions. If you like the franchise... then buy them.
