That would be great. Isn't Iron Man 2 supposed to end leading up to the Avengers or is that for Captain America?

I thought that Captain America was supposed to lead to the Avengers. Maybe like Iron Man finding him in the ice or something.

That makes sense since Stark already found Banner now he's going after CA.

Originally they were going to start writing the Avengers after Iron Man 2 filming was over but Kevin Feige has gotten the ball rolling early to make sure everything is moving towards the eventual Avengers movie.

This is what I see happening.

In IM2, we just see him kind of looking at Thor on TV or something.

At the end of Thor, we see them finding Cap in the ice.

At the end of Cap, we see them altogether for the first time.

Well, the Cap movie takes place during World War II so unless it's a flashback, I doubt them finding him before his movie (maybe at the end of Cap?).

It takes place in WW2? I knew they would start with WW2 but I thought they'd then time-skip to our time. Better be a good story because there is no way he'll get adamantium shield in WW2.

I have heard both aspects. It will primarily be a WWII origin film, but we will see some other stuff as well.

I concur, especially since like you said 1) He found Banner and 2) he has Cap's shield in his lab.

This could work, but I don't think so. I personally would like to see at the end of Cap him being found by Stark frozen in the ice. But that's just me. Regardless, all I can say is I cannot wait for the next couple of movies over the years, all leading up to an Avengers movie!

While that indeed would be the best way to do it I think, I don't believe the "slow burn" start to The Avengers will do that well in this day and age.

From the horse's mouth:

Quote:
But let's get back on topic, specifically The First Avenger: Captain America. Feige confirmed that it's "primarily" a period piece that takes place during WWII. He said they went and looked at Raiders of the Lost Ark, which he says he "didn't know" was a period piece when he was watching it. They want to make Captain America with the "same level of fun" as that. And in regards to director Joe Johnston, he said that this would be a little bit of The Rocketeer, lots of October Sky, and a little bit of the ship designs that Johnston did for Star Wars, alluding to how this is the perfect movie for him to direct. "It's the movie his entire career has been leading towards."

One reveal Feige did make is that Cap's sidekick Bucky would indeed be in Captain America. When asked by Boucher if he'll appear, Feige said "it's a safe bet" that he'd be in the movie "in some capacity." Moving into The Avengers, he was asked if Cap would be involved right from the get go: "Yes." Feige initially said that they talked about making The Avengers animated because it was so big and had so many characters (refer to this old article). But then he said "why don't we wait" until they introduce the characters in their own movies and then have them all come together in a "surprise" manner in a big Avengers movie.
Here's the whole article I posted a while back in the Avenger's thread:

I'm encouraged by the whole Marvel Movie Committee they have, overseeing all of the Marvel projects and monitoring them very closely for continuity and what not. I am extremely impressed they are looking after these movies with such detail, basically assures success for The Avengers.
