Agreed, one post about the new CD is enough. It doesn't need to be followed up by track listings, news of the LP, etc.

Eh. Better than endless "steelbook this/slipcover that" nonsense.

Well I finally heard back from Zavvi again regarding a UK release for the 4K Steelbook and the new Elmer Bernstein double album. They say they have no details of this being available with them at this time. So looks like I'll be importing from the USA then, I don't want a European release with foreign language on the items other than English.

The steelbook has been finally listed on Amazon.co.uk. Actually it's not available for preordering, but I'm pretty sure it will soon.

I have seen that the other day, I currently have it on pre-order from Amazon.com, but I can cancel and order the UK one as soon as the option to pre-order becomes available.

Also the soundtrack is now available to pre-order from amazon UK on CD (£10.76) and Vinyl (£19.74), I ordered both today.

French pre-order still looking mighty good. It's not like the content or even the steely itself will be any different, it'll just have a French j-card.

I totally hear you, if it was any other film I'd agree with you, but hey ho it's only an extra £15 for the US version. I only pick up about 1 film every other month these days. Still hoping for a UK release on Amazon UK as it is there, but currently with no buying options or date. I think at the moment I'm looking at £49 for the one on Amazon.com with shipping and customs fee.

You're literally paying £15 more just for the j-card in English.

I've paid hundreds for the film on formats I can't even play, it's just an illness I'm afraid.

Default Steelbook 4k vs Blu-ray Digibook (2014)

Can anyone speak to the picture quality of what we will get in the steelbook 4k vs the, I thought was considered amazing, Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Blu-ray digibook release?

I went on caps-a-holic.com to try and see comparison shots. And honestly, I'm in a pickle over which picture quality is truly best.

The upcoming release is the same as the 2016 transfers/masters.

Okay, that's not a 180 grams audiophile press, and the price is slightly higher than it's CD version, but c'mon... it's really a way to get people to buy useless items.

I remember years ago they gave me as a gift the 10'' inch coloured "glow in the dark" Ray Parker Jr.'s theme vinyl, the one Arista/Legacy reissued in 2014, and it sounded terribly muffled.

By the way, the vinyl is also available on Amazon.ca (https://www.amazon.ca/Ghostbusters-O.../dp/B07PXD6CB6) and has been listed on .co.uk, .de and .fr. Here's the tracklist:

Disc: 1
1. Ghostbusters Theme
2. Library
3. Venkman
4. Hello
5. The Best One in Your Row
6. Get Her!
7. Plan
8. Dana's Theme

Disc: 2
1. Fridge and Sign
2. Attack
3. Client
4. Dana's Apartment
5. Same Problem
6. We Got One
7. Zuul Part 1
8. Meeting 1
9. I Respect You
10. Who Brought the Dog

Disc: 3
1. Zuul Part 2
2. Steel Drum
3. Cross Rip
4. News
5. Judgment Day
6. Mistake
7. Halls
8. Ballroom
9. Trap
10. Meeting 2

Disc: 4
1. Earthquake
2. Stairwell
3. Gozer
4. Let's Go
5. We're Going to Save the World
6. Mr. Stay Puft
7. Final Battle
8. Finish
9. Zuul (Album Version)
It is a clear vinyl with a green slime center. Thanks for the heads up. I may have to keep an eye out on these vinyl releases. Would be cool to have both the soundtrack and the score on vinyl. I had the soundtrack to the second one for a while but then sold it. It was sealed and in its original longbox. I miss longboxes.

Ghostbusters 1 looks gorgeous on UHD. Very filmic presentation throughout and more vivid than the blu-ray disc. Needs to be seen in motion.

Looks like Amazon UK have increased the price of the double vinyl picture disc soundtrack by £1 and the CD soundtrack by £4, glad I pre-ordered as soon as it went live. The savings will help pay for the Amazon.com 4K steelbook import.

While we're waiting for Amazon.co.uk to make the steelbook finally available, I found two reviews for both movies, with a few more details on the extras.

By now, it seems that the most interesting things are the Ghostbusters deleted scenes and the Ghostbusters II interviews, which will cover a total runtime of about 80 minutes.

Here's a new review for the Steelbook: Finally we have the list of the exclusive deleted scenes from Ghostbusters.
  • Ecto-1 Parking Ticket
  • Pulling Up to Fort Detmerring
  • Fort Detmerring Ghost
  • Louis Encounters Woman
  • Louis Encounters Muggers
  • Central Park Bums - Raw Takes
  • Nobel Prize Aspirations (already included in the 1989 Crterion Laserdisc)

Just started watching this, review on this site mentions that "Compression artifacts are never an issue" but I'm 15 minutes in and I did notice some very evident macroblocking... Am I crazy? (I probably am but I mean regarding the compression issues)

Aye, the compression isn't all the way great on this.
