I live in the East, that's pretty cool that a chain like London Drugs carries product from MVD, do they have a big blu-ray section ?

Also Predator is one of the most improved movies on UHD. The Blu-rays are shite.
Like you I also love the HDR upgrade from UHD, more than the 4k resolution itself, but the new 2k and 4k scan process that is used now is a big leap in quality in itself, even for 1080p blu-ray.

We are seeing the same thing that happened with DVDs. If I may call them "generation" in technology, the last generation masters were alot better looking than first or even second generation masters.

What I really like also with the latest masters is that they seems to generally have less digital manipulation applied, since the quality of the scan is so good now in the first place, they may not feel the need to tinker with the master to make them look sharper and slicker...

Predator UHD is again a good example ;-) That said, only the UHD was made from the new 4k restoration, the new rereleased blu-ray is the old "hunter edition" disk with the awful DNR and it's a shame that they didn't uses the new master since it would have provided a big leap in quality even for a blu-ray, looking probably really close to the UHD even without HDR.

They have done it for The Matrix UHD release and they blu-ray included with it is alot better also.

MVD Rewind Guy, I know you get requests coming at you left and right so I hope this doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Since you have access to the Moonstone library, could you please release Electra (1996) with Shannon Tweed? This is my #1 most wanted title on the format and the film is a ridiculously fun ride! It would make my year if you could. Thank you.

I am very interested as well. Almost anything with Shannon Tweed would be a day one.

To anyone who hasn't seen Electra (1996), do yourself a favour, grab a case of beer, some herb, or whatever floats your boat, get a bunch of friends over and watch it. Easily the most entertaining and unintentionally hilarious movie I've ever seen. It's so much fun and, of course, Tweed has one of her trademark nude scenes. There's T&A, gore, and enough hilarity to span the runtime of several feature length films. Again, my most wanted title on blu-ray.

MVD is quickly approaching my top 3 favourite companies. After a few more gnarly horror films and Electra, they will reach the top 3.

MVD Rewind and MVD Visual are two different labels, correct? I just ordered my first MVD title - Out of Time - for a nifty $13.99 on Amazon but prices seem to vary wildly between titles. Weren't these guys strictly distributors for other labels?

Yeah, Rewind Collection seems to be their sort of higher-tier collector's series, like Olive's new "Signature Collection." I own a couple of their more standard releases like Blast that have few features. The Rewind Collection is all about supplements, not new masters or movie quality really.

A few of us on here are requesting MVD to release movies that have yet to make it to Blu ray anywhere worldwide, If MVD aren't remastering anything would that mean there is no chance will see any of these request get a MVD release unless they they get a foreign release first and then picked up by MVD?
That just means they will release what they're handed by the studio they license from. In the case of Black Eagle they were handed a piece of crap, so the disc is a piece of crap. With Lionheart they were handed a nice master, so the disc looks pretty nice. They can still license stuff that was never released on BD before, but they'll probably be handed an ancient DVD era master.

Kino is pretty much the same, barring a couple rare exceptions. Arrow, Criterion and Shout Factory sometimes do their own masters, sometimes they don't.

For anyone interested in any Kings Road titles i came across this on there website https://www.kingsroadentertainment.com/catalog/

I'm guessing that "films available for remake" means there available to be handed over to a new distributor?

For some reason Kickboxer 2 is not on there but all the others are.

MVD's version of Out of Time is basically just a reissue of the (seemingly) OOP original MGM DVD, right down to the ancient (and mostly lousy) late 90's transfer. At least it was cheap. Still can't help to wonder how much of an improvement a fresh 2K scan would be for this film, which was shot on beautiful South Florida locations. It's funny because, on one of the EPKs, a producer talks about how nice the film looks. Nice for 1997, that is.

So it’s not the German transfer?

I haven't seen Double Dragon since I rented it as a new release on VHS. I don't remember it at all but I can't wait to revisit it The Slipcover looks nice as usual, it's pretty funny that now other companies are copying the whole retro slipcover look that MVD started, MVD however still does it the best.
