Part of Your World and its reprise are my two favorite sequences from the movie. Although it's my favorite movie so pretty much every scene is perfect.

The only other Disney "I Want" song that ranks as close as POYW for me would be Out There, which is pretty similar in content and tone, not to mention Alan Menken is responsible for it as well. Is it a coincidence that both involve a redhead in green looking out to the world they've been denied?

UK 4K versions of TLM and BATB getting released in the UK after all. Spent so much money on getting the US and Canadian editions.

I wonder if Zavvi will release a SB equivalent of Best Buy's for TLM.

For me, Go the Distance is a pretty weak and vague song and Herc's motivations to essentially become famous and beloved by all isn't very sympathetic.

I don't see it as egotistical as that. He is very much an outsider. I also love Menken's melody for the song.

That being said, the last time I saw HoND was as a kid and somehow (oddly) I remember loving that movie and still have that epic soundtrack somewhere.

I honestly can't think of an I Want song I hate (I don't know how to think of The Next Right Thing).

I have a special place in my heart for Part of Your World, I also like How Far I'll Go.

The melody is pretty but the lyrics are pretty generic and lifeless for me. You can tell this wasn't a song penned by Howard Ashman or Stephen Schwartz, and I think Menken shined whenever he was paired with either of those two. I do like listening to the chorus of the song though because of how powerful it is.

Have you ever heard Shooting Star? It was the original "I Want" song for Hercules but it was scrapped for Go the Distance.

I didn't like Hunchback at all when I was young, but that's mainly because I couldn't understand the story and the opening frightened me with the death scene. By around the age of 10 or slightly older, I realized this movie was very different from Disney's usual and my friend who never cared for Disney also found himself interested in this movie when it was playing at a birthday party. Now Hunchback is one of my favorites and while the songs maybe aren't as repeatable as Under the Sea, Be Our Guest, or Friend Like Me, they're still some of the Disney greats because they're not supposed to be like those songs. I would recommend checking out the movie again especially if you have such fond memories of it.

I don't know if The Next Right Thing would count as an I Want song either. I'm inclined to say no, because it's more of an "I Will Do" song. However, I really don't like the song at all and it's easily the weakest in the entire movie which is saying something.

I'm not thrilled about Moana's soundtrack (although it's better than the pre-Frozen soundtracks) but I really do like How Far I'll Go. However, this is one of the rare cases where I prefer the pop version and listen to that a lot whereas I never listen to the one from the movie. I also like some of Moana's deleted songs a lot like "Warrior Face."

I actually think she has evolved as a media critic ever since and this video is a really good example of that. Her whole shtick back then was "this is bad. Let's make fun of it" while now she actually puts more thoughts and research when making her videos. This is one of the better defenses of the movie and even the other classics I've seen.

I haven't been able to find such an info in this thread, but is this 4K master of The Little Mermaid unaltered? Or the priest knee and other changes which altered the original feature have been applied here too? Aside the initial logos and titles I mean, are there more alteration during feature?

You mean the priest’s knee that everyone thought was him getting an erection? Lol. Yeah. That will forever remain altered.

Thanks, that's what I meant. I read somewhere that scene is unaltered in a "making of". Does anyone know which one that making of is and if it's present in any Blu-ray edition ever released?

The Story Behind the Story, originally produced for the Platinum Edition DVD, but ported over to the Diamond Edition Blu-ray.
