oh boy, please tell me this isn't yet another chipboard with a slipcover. I mean I get what they're trying to do, cover up the side where you take the case and booklet out with some nice title artwork, but everyone of these arrives damaged for me.

It's a shame that companies need to start thinking about how they design their products not based on how they want the product to be, but based on the fact that couriers are almost guaranteed to do their best to destroy your package before they deliver it, so they need to keep that in mind. We can't have nice things any more since we buy everything online these days. Half of my stuff has nicks and dents in it. And those are the good ones that I keep.

Start buying from vendors that use boxes. Atomic, for instance. I ordered a single Kino title from them and they used a box. You might pay a little more but your stuff will arrive in one piece. If you care enough about not getting damaged stuff you can’t be frugal

All of mine have arrived pristine so far, two of them from the UK.

Also they're not really made for display, they just replaced the old backing board.

I have indeed been buying more from Atomic, Diabolik, etc. and they're great. One other factor though is so many discs are scratched these days and with Amazon they're easy to replace. But yeah, I've really had it with Amazon, Best Buy (they're out of the game anyways now), WalMart, etc. not caring enough to even make an effort to get things to us in good condition.

Of course I do buy other things from Amazon too, and everything runs the risk of getting damaged. I bought quite a few things from Ebay UK sellers over the holiday season and Ebay's global shipping program is awful too. So many things arrived damaged this past Christmas, due to Ebay's horrendous global shipping service. Lots of collectibles starting out the journey in pristine collectible boxes and arriving crunched in and wrecked. Nobody cares.

I love that Ebay takes care of customs forms and all those other international shipping hassles but I always wondered if they repackage the items I sell over again. I take great care in carefully packaging items, going so far as to adding plastic packing peanuts and other padding if needed. So far I haven't gotten any complaints from buyers, fingers crossed.

I do but even they will ship already damaged stock to you sometimes. Of course these OG artwork titles can only be bought from Arrow direct which is always an adventure

I watched an unboxing video and this has one of those thin slipcovers over the chipboard box. I actually hate those and will be tossing it out. They cheapen the release for me and serve no real purpose other than to hide the opposite side of the spine. Kinda pointless.

I'd love to get one of those for Blood and Black Lace UHD non-Arte Originale. Just so I can have an English language spine. Likewise, I wish House By The Cemetery had the same, so I could put it over my Arte Originale.

Here, for Invasion of the Body Snatchers, it really doesn't matter.

One's Kino's US disc and the other Arrow's UK disc. A quick glance of each thread says it all!

I mean, sure, but that’s not always possible; and just using a box sometimes isn’t sufficient if the packaging in the box is lousy. For example, Amazon is sending me a disc that will definitely be in a box because it shipped with another item that weighs 3lbs. Now I don’t care because I’m putting the disc in a steelbook. But it’s possible that disc could get damaged because I’m sure they just threw the disc and everything else in the box and taped it up.

Don’t get me wrong, I use Orbit and DiabolikDVD all the time (haven’t bought from Atomic yet but only hear good things) - not just because they package well, but because I also prefer to buy from smaller and independent retailers. But there isn’t an option to do that if you want something they don’t carry, like an Arrow store exclusive. I got my OG artwork Invasion of the Body Snatchers set yesterday not very well protected in a brown Zavvi-type mailer. Looks like no damage, so that’s good. All that said, I do basically agree with you and will often spend a few $$ more (within reason…) to buy from a place like Orbit.

Wow, I was kind of bummed I had missed out on the Arrow exclusive version but this version is absolutely gorgeous, can't wait to receive my copy! Turns out it looks even better than the exclusive one, I am quite surprised!

Yeah, I’m not too bummed now that I missed out on the Arrow site exclusive. Their new art is pleasing and pretty tasteful.

Now Kyle, where are those damned screencap comparisons?!

Disc still not ready for caps. I'm at the mercy of forces beyond my control! No eta but hoping by Wednesday.

Default New Arrow Limited Edition 2K blu-ray

Hello,
Is the new Arrow Limited Edition 2K blu-ray is the same disk/transfer/picture quality as this 2013 Arrow edition?:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Invas...Blu-ray/80402/
I have the 2013 edition and I would only purchase this new 2K blu-ray edition if it has better picture quality than the 2013 version. Does anyone know?
Many thanks!

My copy is out for delivery from Rarewaves. They pack like crap so I'm hoping the rigid slipbox gives this one a chance.
