Just did some AB comparisons to the Lionsgate disc.. truly is no contest, Shout proves superior across the board. Much better/saturation, while still not a colorful film, it looks far less manipulated. Also Shout is MUCH better in motion shots, which are key to most of the film. The opening sequence draws me in like never before! And the TrueHD track is miles better than the 5.1 and mono tracks, least tinny dialogue and best atmosphere.
Only complaint is contrast appears a bit blown out in a couple of daylight shots compared to the Lionsgate disc. Most noteably the early shot of Tommy and Laurie walking and talking. Now to watch the damn movie. ![]() |

Typical summer light sun & sky is 6500K. Average summer shade is 8000K. Skylight (blue sky) is 12,000 to 20,000K. That image mostly shows skylight which is much higher than what the 6500K white point the film is balanced for therefore making white blueish and effecting all the other colors towards blue. Our brain adjusts for that, film cannot. |

Most TVs have a refresh rate of 59.94 fields/frames per second, not 60 like it used to be in the good ol’ days of black and white TV. So 24fps movies were converted to 23.976. Then you perform 2:3 pulldown so that it plays at 29.97fps, and then just double that for the 59.94 refresh rate. I have no idea how 24fps works on 59.95Hz TVs these days. Maybe there’s some newer technology that displays it properly.

What I see is more grain on the IP print due to the fact that it's a copy of the OCN. Here https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=2&x...&l=0&i=17&go=1 you'll be able to see more detail on the yarn, less grain on her arm, and the couch look more real with much less noise. The image is smoother like the characteristics of film. And oh yea, much better color reproduction. |

https://www.bing.com/search?q=motion...FORM=QBLH&sp=2 Any other frame rate is an offset to work with older TVs. Today's TV can reproduce 24fps which is desirable because the source is actually 24fps. The only time something is not shot at 24fps is mostly everything else shot on video (which is 30fps.) Digital motion picture cameras also record at 24fps to help keep the look of standard motion picture film when it's projected or displayed. Frame rates higher than 24fps is a totally different subject all together. |

Hmm that was going to be my backup plan. I think I just need to accept the fact that I (and many others) probably won’t get these by Halloween.

No, no, you misunderstood my post. I didn't mean "yeah, DVD is 24", I meant "NO DVD is 24", meaning there are no DVD's that are 24.

The boxset will be sufficient for the other installments if anyone in my household wants to seek them out. NOBODY in my house is allowed to watch part 3. My hatred for that film is well documented. I doubt the disc would even play as I've flung it around the room so often and used it as a beer coaster on occasion... |
