A 1-loss Alabama, Texas A&M, or South Carolina would definitely end the season ranked higher than an undefeated Louisville, and there's a decent chance a 1-loss Oregon or Stanford would as well. In addition if any SEC team, Florida State, Notre Dame, or potentially a Big 12 team finished the season undefeated they'd jump Louisville.

Where Louisville could be hurt also is if they finish the season #2 in the human polls they could still end up on the outside of the title game because the computer polls aren't going to rank them as high due to their strength of schedule.

I wonder how things will shake out in 2014 when a committee decides the top-4. I've heard almost nothing regarding what criteria they consider. I'm not sure an undefeated Louisville could have even made a top-4 playoff if it existed this season.

Not true. You're talking about the 2007 West Virginia team. Their SOS was ranked #32 out of 120, which isn't bad. They played 4 top-25 (at the time they played them) teams by the end ofthe regular season. They ended up demolishing Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Louisville's 2013 schedule will probably be MUCH worse than WVA's 2007 schedule. Probably in the bottom half (60th or 70th at best) of D1 teams. Louisville's schedule is almost as bad as Boise St.'s during those years they went undefeated or had one loss against terrible competition.

Yes... any undefeated team likely skips them, but depending on when the SEC teams take the loss, I don't see them passing Louisville. They certainly aren't going to be behind them and then jump them suddenly unless they win the conference.

Boise St also wasn't top 10 to start the season.

Louisville won't get in if they go undefeated. Doesn't matter if they are in the Top 10 to start the season or not, their schedule is too weak. They would get a bowl game but not be playing for the national championship.

Only time will tell. First thing they have to do is not lose. I guess it's a good thing they don't play WKU

Doesn't matter who WV lost to in a bowl. My point is they would have played for BCSC coming out of a crap league but were beaten in the last game. BS didn't start in the top 10 when they went undefeated nor did they have a media darling and possible #1pick playing QB. With their win over FL in the bowl last year they have cred, poor schedule or not. They win and they are in. Mark it down. They have a much better chance than the mighty SEC's USC jr.

Believe it or not this is the main reason they get in. The way the beat UF down in the bowl game open a lot of people eyes, and basically returning the same team from last year. So the voters are not afraid to vote them in to the title game. The main thing they have to do is blow everyone out, no close games and they'll get in.

Oh come on. I cannot believe people actually think Louisville has a chance at a BCS title game if they go undefeated. Unless we have one of those seasons where there is no more than one elite conference team with 1 or fewer losses Louisville isn't getting in. And the only time in recent memory I can recall that happening was 2007 when LSU made and won the national championship with 2 losses. That almost never happens.

I have to wonder if Bridgewater may return in 2014. He's only a Junior and everyone assumes he'll go pro. But every year it seems one or two top college QB's decides to return to school for another season. Louisville will be in a better conference too, so who knows, maybe he'll surprise.

Bridgewater is gone. That is what is going around the Lexington-Louisville area anyway. I don't see him coming back because he will have a hell of a season. Shit, even a decent QB could against that schedule.

AAC get an automatic bid? If so I can't believe you think they don't have a chance. This debate will be over way too soon. Football season goes by to quick. I hope like hell Bridgewater leaves. CU goes there next year and I don't want to see him.

They get an auto bid to a BCS game. Not to the national championship game. There's a big difference there.
