The front runner was the denon. But I don't need airplay and I am not gonna run a cable to connect to the internet. So at the same price point it went to the 809 and then also noticed the 709. So maybe you can give me a little insight.

Thanks man.
It was the nicest Onkyo that I could afford. I had heard that the Onkyos were a little more clear and crisp, whereas the Denons were a little more warm. The 709 is very similar to the 809. The main differences that I found were that the 809 has a little more power and 13.4 lbs. more weight, which I assumed meant a larger transformer and more powerful amp.

You can compare them on the Onkyo site: http://www.onkyousa.com/prod_class.cfm?class=Receiver

I bought mine factory refurbished with a one year warranty at accessories4less. Right now you can get the 809 for $600 or the 709 for $420.

Both of them have Audyssey MultEQ XT, but if you can find a refurbished 818, it has XT32, which is nicer, and it should be somewhat similar in price to the 809.

If you have questions about the Denon 3312ci, you could probably ask Spaceape, as he has the 4311ci.

Good luck!

Well, last night I had some friends over to party. We checked out a few BD concerts and demoed a few choice movie scenes and I drank way too much, then went to bed. I woke up today and read a little bit of 'A Clash of Kings' from the Game of Thrones books, then went and got a big-ass sub sandwich, and voilà, here I am.

Cool thanks man. I appreciate your help. I think I may have to get the 709. the 809 is a beast and without building a shelf over the TV to put my center I don't think it will fit. I have the TV on a stand an not flush on the wall so it'll be a pain it the A** to do. Not to mention I think I will be close to Maxing out my breaker in my house. I use to have a window AC on the same breaker as my HT and it kept blow the fuse. So I think if I added the 809 and the Amplifier I would be in trouble. I am only running 2 channels off the receiver so the 110 isn't a problem. I really want the 809 but I don't need the extra stuff.
Thank You again.

There really isn't a big difference between the 709 and the 809, plus the 709 is almost $200 cheaper. I think you will be very happy with the 709.

Yeah, but you probably party a lot harder than I do. I usually have about a 12 pack every other day, but stay away from liquor most of the time, if I can.

When I was on my diet I was doing great, 3.5 months no booze, been so hot and busy lately, I've had a few beers and some Scotch. Afraid to step on the scale, when I have a few beers I normally don't take long walks with the dog or eat yogurt and carrot sticks.

What is your beer? I like Sam Adams.

Yeah, beer makes you crave a big greasy cheeseburger or a bacon egg and cheese sandwich instead of a salad. I love Sam Adams, but here lately I've been drinking a lot of Yuengling Light. It's fairly flavorful and caramel colored for a light beer, and only has 98 calories per 12oz.

If light beers are about what a normal beer is in alcohol % here in europe (4.6%). How much is in a normal beer? Or does the light only describe that it's light in calories?
