You people buy movies from pawn shops? Pawn shops don't sell new stuff, everything is used. Used movies could have scratched discs, why take the risk?

I have never got a scratched disc from a pawn shop. Most look like they have never been used.

Pretty decent? How much cheaper would you expect such movies to sell for used?

Never had a defective blu-ray that I've purchased from a pawn shop. You can look at the discs before you buy them and if for some reason they are damaged you can pass on the purchase.

And Blu-rays have a protective coating on them to help prevent scratches.

nah, I'm just saying they're pretty common titles for pawn shops around here. solid prices, but they can be had for that price all the time. I was
wasn't knocking them, just giving a big thumbs up at the rarity of the Pixar Titles.

that's why you inspect the disc. pawn shops, gohastings and other used places are the mainstays of a lot of our collections. I've gotten maybe 2-3 bad discs over the last 8 years from them, and HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS (honestly probably over a thousand) have been purchased

On top of that odds are if you really wanted to you could probably even contact the studio and get a replacement, especially around this time of year. Did that with one I bought from BlockBuster when they were going out of business and Sony just asked for information you would only have if you have the discs (the numbers in various spots etc) and sent out a new one.

I've bought a TON of NEW SEALED movies at pawn shops, just because you have a thing against them doesn't mean you need to try to rain on our parade. I've bought TONS of discs from them... You obviously do not know what you are talking about

Checked a couple of pawn shops for the first time in about a year. I was kind of surprised to see that they still aren't budging on price and are pretty much the same they've been for the last several years. Also was really annoyed that they're both keeping a similar inventory system of marking the discs and artwork with a number in sharpie marker. Further didn't help that the staff were vulturing and hard selling like crazy for used jewelry and cell phone accessories, sections I wasn't even browsing. The seediness of these local shops kind of gives me a bad aftertaste but I still check them time to time out of curiosity. The shops back home where I used to live were a lot cleaner, tended to have better condition items, and had less invasive employees not constantly hassling for a quick sale. A shame because I used to have a weekend ritual of hitting up all the local pawn shops back home and built up my dvd collection through them before I purchased movies from places like Amazon or Best Buy.

I have nothing but great things to say about my shop. The prices are reasonable and sometimes they will give you an extra deal. They don't do any of what you mentioned but then again mine is part of a chain of pawn stores that has several shops across a couple of different states in my area.

I went to one this weekend that still charges ~ $10 for DVDs. I did not even ask about BluRays. Then went to another one down the street and picked up BDs for $2.50 each. Some shops are just plain stupid when it comes to pricing.

Dude. That's nice. One of my old shops had 3 copies of the full Star Wars set (sealed). They had it on display and I always forgot to ask about it. When I finally did, they told me they sold all 3 at $10 each.
