Audio issue One note: At 1:18:02, as a train is derailed, a skip occurred in the audio track. It’s unknown at this whether this was our review copy or something affecting the wider release. As such, for now, we’re ignoring it until confirmation is made. |

I watched the film in complete darkness and it looked fine but sitting here in work it is very difficult to make out those screen grabs so they are definitely not a good indication of how it will look on your TV assuming you watch it in the dark, if you attempt to watch it during the day then it could be quite tricky.

I think you're pretty much the only person trying to make this comparison. When people first heard the new roar no one said it wasn't Godzilla or that it sounded too much like JP rex. |

Yes, Godzilla's roar in the 2014 film is very distinctly a more demonic version of the original Godzilla roar. It even has the end rumble of a Godzilla roar.
Godzilla 2014 and JP T-Rex sound nothing alike. Last edited by brooks101189; 09-05-2014 at 03:26 PM. |

[Show spoiler] Original Godzilla Roar They both end the same way with that low rumble. 2014 is just louder because he's three times bigger than any other Godzilla. However, it's pointless to argue with you because you're hard-headed and a waste of forum space to argue with. Last edited by brooks101189; 09-05-2014 at 03:35 PM. |

I watched the Blu-ray last night. I have a JVC X-700 that is calibrated to the nines. Anyone that knows anything about my system knows that you'd be hard pressed to improve on any area of it. I am also extremely nitpicky about video and audio presentations and generally find a lot of issues that most don't.
I thought Godzilla had a FANTASTIC video presentation and I don't see any of the issues that were called out in the posted review on the last page. Compression and banding was never an issue. This was shot digitally so it does have a VERY clean look to it and the typical touch of softness that some associated with digital photography, but it isn't dull or soft by any standards. The movie is somewhat dark but not crushed in any way. Black levels were fine and shadow detail was far better than I saw in theaters. The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard on Blu-ray ever. I would put it in my top 3 for surround soundstage and the bass presence is incredible. This is a disc I will use for demos for many years to come. I think your miles on this disc will ultimately come down to the capabilities of your playback system. Gamma calibration and contrast capabilities will certainly play into it. What your audio system is (or isn't) capable of will also determine how good it will sound. The bottom end presence will demand a lot from your subs. |

That is not the JP rex roar. If you really want to hear what creature sounds identical to it, look no further than the thanator from James Cameron's Avatar. Even the horses in that movie use raptor grunts. If you really still think the 2014 Godzilla and JP Rex roar still sound completely identical, then I think you're just trolling at this point. Look, no one I've seen has made mention of this so called similarity besides you. Don't you think that to be a bit strange? Last edited by jala12; 09-05-2014 at 03:42 PM. |
