Which has led to the belief that there are no dwarf women and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground, which is of course ridiculous.

She looks like she’s on the Project Runway real woman challenge and the judges criticize the colors of the fabrics and say it makes her look matronly.

Right? Did the writing team not investigate anything beforehand? Hmmm.

Yeah - thats what I thought too. This is supposed to be centered around LOTR? Like, which one? I mean, that was just BAD. Holy crap.... bad. LOL

Perhaps even more crucially, sources say author J.R.R. Tolkien’s estate was against having Jackson on board. This shouldn’t be surprising, as the estate had no involvement with his films and Christopher Tolkien has previously slammed the trilogy in the press as “eviscerating” his father’s books, claiming they turned his novels into action movies for young people that lack “beauty and seriousness.”
Man someone needs to tell Christopher Tolkien to shove it. Jackson's movies had plenty of Beauty and Seriousness. The Tolkien Estate is one reason Jackson didn't get to work on this

I was unaware that the Tolkien estate was not onboard with the movies.

Sure did. They did a fabulous job in just about every regard. Sure, a few things changed or were left out but you almost have to do that with film adaptations of books - especially huge ass books like LOTR. Jackson pulled off the almost impossible. Casting, writing, direction, etc. etc. = Perfect(almost in every regard).

I would have liked having Jackson in charge of this new TV show but its clear the Hipster Amazon execs are the writers here. Oh well.

I don't get the negativity, the trailer was great imo. Really looking forward to it!
Can't believe we're being treated to this AND House of the Dragon in less than a month!

They had nothing to do with the films or anything else, nor did they have the right to be, per the licensing agreement made with Saul Zaentz back in the day. CT is not happy with the fact that the PJ films and all other media were straight-up fantasy adaptations and not some sort of magical, ethereal creation of wonder that some think the collective works should be.

So Saul got some of the rights from United Artist, who got them from Tolkien.
Man all of the rights for this stuff is a mess.

Yeah and PJ wasn't allowed - per the wishes of the estate and CT - to have any involvement with the Amazon series, even though many of his LOTR/Hobbit people and crew/cast from those productions are working on it.

Prediction: Disney buys LOTR and then, well, there ya go. Rights problems solved. Of course, in comes JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson to work their "magic".
