Decided against preordering the steelbooks from Rarewaves. They may well have been sent using decent packaging, but I figure if I’m going to end up having to buy a steelbook or two if I want Krull or Savini’s NotLD on day one, then HMV is a better bet, even if they end up costing a couple of quid more.

This is one of the many reasons I don’t particularly care for steelbooks, worrying about whether they’ll arrive in decent nick.

Does anyone have info on the expiration date that's now appeared on the Rarewaves awards we've accumulated. It looks like I haven't lost any yet but according to the FAQ they now expire a year after purchase.

I think the first email I got about that was December 2024:

Quote:
Our terms and conditions state that points expire if no activity occurs over twelve consecutive months. Activity is defined as earning points through purchase or redeeming points for a discount code. Since we haven’t recorded any activity on your account in the past year, your points will reset to zero unless you take action.

Thats a lot better than say Arrow where they just straight up expire after a year regardless - as long as you buy something from Rarewaves every 12 months you could just continue to accrue them. Although the biggest voucher is £20 so no point beyond that really

My sale orders have started to ship:

I, The Executioner, Witness in the City, and Kill Them All and Come Back Alone.

Waiting on Blazing Magnum from the rest of the above 2 for £16 offer.

I ordered The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2 from the Arrow sale and pre-ordered The Hidden Fortress (standard blu-ray) with a £5 reward points code

I'm seriously going to have to reconsider whether the mostly paltry savings on rarewaves are worth the delivery times.

I had three items sent out July 15th, two took 13 days to get to me (London, UK) and the other has yet to arrive 17 days later!

The whistl "tracking" site is almost insultingly useless and just shows "collection scheduled". I actually got in touch with rarewaves and they said they'd look into it but I've heard nothing back since.

To put this in perspective, I had a Stackry order arrive within 7 days!!

What's weird is that for a short burst they were getting new releases to me before the street-date.

I'm not that impatient, I recognise that they're not amazon, but this is ridiculous. I don't know how it's even possible to take this long to get here - do they strap packages to turtles or something? Does anyone know how this works?

Sorry, just had to vent.

Well if you have a need to have anything you buy in the next 7 days, Rarewaves is not the market for you indeed.

With my collection and watch pile size, it doesn't matter much if something arrives in 2 days or 2 months. Of course sometimes it can be annoying to start planning a watch event around release date and not have something arrive. So I try to avoid such exact plans.

I'm happy they do free shipping (on orders over £10 I think), plus the rewards and frequent %off offers. I don't need stuff to arrive fast, so rarewaves is usually my first choice these days.

It's worth repeating they are damned good for pre-orders. Mostly arrive the Saturday before the release date.

Obviously, if you ordered the week before it might take longer.

Nope. All the discs I cite are new releases, ordered well in advance. 17 days and still no sign of THE STUFF 4K. And with Hearts of Darkness, When Evil Lurks and the Jaws steelbook still in the wind. Like I said, before that I was getting pre-orders early but something has obviously changed.

In response to T4ffer, I'm pretty relaxed about it too but it just means you don't know if it's lost or what. And it means that the already pretty weakly packaged discs are bumping around out there somewhere for ages. All the more chance of being lost, stolen or damaged.

Well, I've had 2 pre-orders that didn't make it until after release date.

Dozens of other orders beat release date by a couple of days.

I can only speak from my own experience... and that experience is good.

Can I ask how recently?

Maybe they just hate me specifically.

Just wait until the winter holiday period, Rarewaves orders will really take 2 months to arrive then.

That's interesting. Where in the UK are you? And do you know if they used Whistl?

All my orders were made with the 10 percent discount. Is that the same for your order? Wondering if they use some sort of super-cheap delivery for reduced items.

North England. 10% discount.

No idea what they used as packaging is already thrown out, but it was ordered a couple of month ago. Despatch email received 29 July.

A Friday is unusually early. It's usually Saturdays for my pre-orders.

Wow, that pisses me off.

Thanks for the info anyway. Seems South London is getting special treatment.

But like I said, I was getting early pre-orders too at one point so something's weird.

What actually worries me most is that I've got THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY supposedly coming from them and if something goes wrong with that, I believe the Special Edition is sold out everywhere else.

Think in the future I'll just spend the extra couple of quid on A-List items.

To be fair, I've always eventually got my orders (so far) and despite the flimsy packaging, undamaged.
