I only order movies from Target during sales, yet I've returned more movies to them for severe damage in shipping than with any other retailer. I always include photos in the return request so they can see that I'm not scamming them. Today I received this tiny item that it'd be hard to damage, shipped in an oversized box. It's a shame these companies would rather ship items in packaging that doesn't suit their fragility and take the hit on returns. In almost every case, Target did not want me to return the damaged movie, so it's a total loss to them.

My Karate Kid 4K set arrived in a box as well, but Roger Rabbit 4K was shipped cross-country in an unpadded polybag. Miraculously it arrived with the slip having just a few touches of wear.

I've being receiving most of my individual movies over the past month in those glued cardboard squares. None came in brown padded mailers, and a select few came in white (crap) bubble mailers. My 4K copy of No Time to Die came in a glued cardboard square two days ago. It was in perfect condition on all corners and edges, but had terrible wrinkling down the left-side spine of the slip due to overzealous vacuum-sealing when packaging it for shipment. I miss boxes / wrap-around box packaging for single-movie shipments.

Also, French Dispatch has been dispatched , so I should have that next week.

I got 3 approvals for the Woody Allen and after the last one they ended up canceling it anyway

I just cancelled mine and got it directly from Kino. Was cheaper, too.

Getting frustrated now as Amazon has it for $21.74, very close to the Target B2G1 price and it would freaking arrive tomorrow.

I’ve got plenty else to watch so I approved again. Bet it will be out of stock and/or more expensive on Amazon when Target finally cancels.

How much was it from Kino? It’s OOS now.

The Target price with B2G1 was around $22 for me. By the time I got to Amazon it was no longer available from them. I ordered from a 3rd party seller for just under $20, but that last gonna take 2 weeks. I’ll keep both orders open for now, either one is easy enough for me to return locally.

It was $17.99 in Kino's nearly month long sale. In most cases, you can't beat the deals on their own sales, even soon after the release date in many cases. Plus, you have the added satisfaction of supporting them directly, and more likely to be in stock or quickly backordered as well.

Ah I think I ignored that since I had it ordered from Target. I did huge KL order a few months ago and couldn’t find enough to get free shipping this time.

Covid related, so they maintained the proper social distance with the oversized box.

Maybe it happened when it was sealed up, but unlike "crap bubble mailers", complete garbage unpadded paper squares offer 0% crush resistance - none whatsoever. Also, the slip NEVER slides off the end of the case during packaging with "crap bubble mailers". Where our slips are absolutely crushed on one end 99% of the time target uses garbage paper squares or garbage corrugated single faced cardboard squares, which also have FAR less crush resistance than "crap bubble mailers." Slipless amaray cases can usually survive garbage squares. In fact we just had one that went all the way across country in one via Fed Ex ground. But Viva cases are far more fragile and tend to arrive broken to some extent at least half the time, when using garbage unpadded squares. If target would use "crap bubble mailers" more, I'm confident we'd receive a lot fewer damaged BDs.

Curiously we rarely received damaged dvds back in the day, regardless of the packaging used. It's really cheap, brittle Viva cases that we've had the most problem with, by FAR.

We agree on the crap protection of the squares (especially slips sliding off in them), but I object to the protection provided by their white bubble mailers. I have had FAR too many slipcovers arrive in them with dents to the side spines / edges, as well as badly dinged corners. This is across a massive sample size (~200 instances).

It doesn't help that packages are always sorted at 5 or more shipping facilities before they get to my house. Either way, the packaging being used isn't passing muster.

Yes, that's the price I paid. I am continually surprised (shocked even) at the low, low prices that even brand new releases are frequently offered at during the KL sales.

Cartoon Salon's Irish Folklore Trilogy came with every corner dinged from being tossed around a giant box. Will never order another preorder from them.

20% Movies in Target Circle this week. No pre-orders but like usual, some have slipped through the cracks.

For some reason known only to Target, the 20% offer only applies to in-store items. Shipping is excluded from the offer when you go to add it to your Circle offers. Seems pointless, given the meager amount of physical media in most Target stores. Online only items still somehow listed as eligible. WTF? Hope this is just a temporary glitch

I considered the second Venom, but I think I'll wait for a digital sale because it gets such poor reviews. There's nothing else I want/need, not that my local stores carry much anyway.

I preordered it as well and had a damaged, loose disc that was more likely due to the terrible design and the foam disc holder that failed. But yes, buying a "collector" release that just gets tossed in a nearly empty box is a real wonder. You'd think there'd be a line somewhere between shipping glassware and hard candy.

I liked it better than the first, but it's still an average series at best.
