Yeah theres nothing unbeatable about the game or any of their games unless you chose to make it difficult on yourself...

If anything if your the type to spend 10hours at a time on every boss trying to perfectly dodge and learn moves at low levels, you'll prob end up investing the same or roughly the same amount of hours as the person who farmed for OP and beat them quickly lol


Just different strokes, I enjoyed DS3 applying the Elden techniques where I'd go fight Pontiff and realize I'd get smoked and just come back later lol

Yes, sadly that is the case but i meant like if you started the quest, but then went on to other areas and didn't finish it before a certain point i guess, i don't have a clue where but the mission starting phase becomes closed. You can never do the first part, but the final part is working so another quest wasn't locked out to me. That said, it did suck that happened.

I started giving Deathroot to Gurranq and have to say, the 5th time i gave him one, he was all chill and so i left to go grab a 6th which i believe gives me the final reward and he was full on aggro. Oof. Got my butt handed to me a few times and learned that pulling the Wondrous Physik that keeps your runes on death always needed to be popped first.

Honestly, the games enemies and damage output doesn't always make sense to me. I am level 160 atm, with 80 Dexterity, 40 Vigor, 31ish endurance and 30+ Arcane with a +21 Nagakiba and +19 Uchigatana i think and there's still enemies that are just ridiculous. For reference, i'm also wearing clean rot armour with a white mask and running a bleed build with Lord of Blood Exultation charm and stuff.

Well, i am cheesing some more rune glitches and hoping i can get my build re-arranged soon. I'm going to try start the Ranni questline, finish off some side NPCs quests and hopefully can get the bleed build fully stacked. Those damn dual blade spinny coffin things and those winged vermin gargoyles are the nastiest i have had to deal with. They're damage sponges. Probably need to learn a few tricks with them.

Since this is an open world, by exploring you won't have to farm as much in one location like with prior souls game.

I explored the hell outta this game, and farmed when I came across a good location.

That has always been my main gripe about the game. There are a handful of enemies and/or moves that can just wipe out your health. Like any Souls game I died a lot in Elden Ring but I definitely succumbed to a larger proportion of one-shot kills in this game than any prior FromSoft title.

The chariot crap in the catacombs, the stupid respawning trebuchet and arrow ballistas, as well as even this one BS shade and similar things sometimes pose me more problems than actual bosses tbh.

I have just started the Ranni questline, so i'm aiming for the ghostwort and glvoewort bell bearings and going to try level my summons up. I'm at level 175 right now and slowly getting closer and closer to a really stacked bleed build setup soon, but i'm mainly trying to make sure i stick to the NPC quests.

For all the new players head south when you finish the tutorial. Don't go immediately north.

There are so many of those flowers I never had an issues gathering without the bell bearings.

Don't stress yourself out better off just finding the caves where they're at then dealing with some of those caves lol

Your dex is solid prob time to just start dumping into Strength and Arcane especially once you get the rivers of blood sword which scales dex,strength and arcane

Also 50 to me is kinda the minimum to take shots on vigor so get that up

and endurance in the 40s minimum so you can hack and slash enough without having to wait

Tbh, it was moreso to grab the bell bearings to unlock unlimited versions of them at the roundtable and then use the rune glitch to be able to buy as many as i want to upgrade all the summons i want. Tbh, the summons i have atm aren't able to get to higher levels because the right Glove/Ghostwort hasn't been picked up, so i am wrapping up the side NPC quests before heading off to Radhan.

I dumped into strength earlier to use the Nagakiba blade and a few extra, but Dexterity is 100% as max as i'd bother with it. I have the Rivers of Blood but it wasn't part of the bleed build guide i was following, so i was thinking to try and get the Arcane up and finally get the Nagakiba to become the bleed build i need alongside the Uchigatana with blood blade.

Switching weapons from 2 handed to the other and back to releases ashes of war in the battles is a pain. Wish they had made it quicker to switch over and confirm. Sometimes doesn't even recognise my prompts.

I don't always feel concerned about the stamina tbh. I have the Radagon Scarseal thing boosting the top 5 stats by an additional 5 points too atm. However, boosting it higher for the additional equip load is becoming tempting because i want to wear the Bul armor you can get soon.

Theres one where it adds stats but also hurts you I found it wasn't worth the hurt because you take wayyy more shot damage than you can make up by farming 5 levels


the good thing about the rivers is its the somber stones so its not gonna impact the main smithing stones, also the L2/LT attack does just brutal bleed damage on paper it shouldn't be as strong and well rounded as it is but I haven't found anything I like more (maybe the giant crusher for doing mass damage to the first version of final boss)

Yes, it's the one that boosts 5 stats by 5 levels each and you take more damage, but it's like 20 levels it's boosting me by having it on right now allowing me to focus on boosting my Arcane stats for now till i hit them pretty high. I realised that i wasn't able to add some stuff to my blades because the Black Whetstone hadn't been acquired, so i'm off to make sure i have that. Going to boost up my Arcane and i think i may respec a little bit to lower my Dexterity to 50, adding the additional levels to Vigor Endurance and maybe Arcane.

Right now i'm at a really good spot with my characters power for the majority of areas in the game, but the Mountaintops of the Giants areas are a goddamn joke when it came to the power scaling jump even on regular NPCs.

Yeah if you turn that on/off and go try an enemy that routinely gives you trouble you can kinda gauge its not worth the damage you take.

Honestly, sometimes i don't even think it's the enemy per se but the actual scaling between Mountaintop of the Giants/Haligtree areas that cause more issues. Its a really steep jump up imo even as i'm like level 180+ atm.

That said, i am slowly making my way through the Ranni questline and ready to wrap others up in Volcano manner and the Alexander Questline.

I honestly do feel like although there's many positives, i find it a touch lazy when developers cannot more explicitly weave their stories with cutscenes or more explicit lore. A scribble here, a description there etc. is all you tend to get. It's annoying because there's so many unanswered questions as a result.

I’m of two minds when it comes to FromSoft’s storytelling. One the one hand I prefer their nuanced (even more backseat) approach compared to 90% of the other action/adventure/RPGs out there. But at the same time, when they do decide to create a big cutscene or include voice acting, it is always do well done I wouldn’t mind having a bit more. The production studio (Liquid Violet?) that handles their English voice acting is amazing. Dark Souls 2 in particular might have my favorite voice acting in any game. It evokes such a mood and it’s one of the reasons I still love that game even if it is the black sheep of the franchise. And the intro scenes to the original Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 are some of my favorite cinematics in gaming. They still give me chills when I watch them.

Theres never been a real story in any of their games so its not like say the devs that did dead space telling a good story and then they go make Callisto and its a trash story and you're like how did they fail that badly


at least here they're consistent in never really having a story. I think the urge for story is cause the game (or in my op the map) is so well done you kinda do wanna know more/ understand more but they've never really been givers of info lol

That's my problem with it. They have a cool world, there's a lore there but you don't really truly experience it say the way FF games etc. tend to set up stuff along the way. Even these things being done by fans are great, but they shouldn't have to. Bungie had this exact problem with Destiny.

I'm so angry trying to beat this Margit character that I'm shaking.

My character is at 39. Sometimes I can get him at about 70% done.

Trying to refill your health is a pain against such a busy character.

This game is flawed in so many ways. The toughness of the bosses gets all the hype. But this game isn't that great otherwise. The graphics are outdated, the f8ghting mechanics aren't that great. The story and characters are not engaging.

The only reason I'm still playing this is because I don't give up easy.

Are you using sprint ashes to summon help? There’s also an item you can purchase from an NPC that makes the fight a little easier.

I need to hurry up and finish my playthrough of Mad Max so I can start a new Elden Ring run. Getting caught up in this thread again has got me all worked up.
