Which was a really stupid gesture. He took out the transformation(sloppily I might add) and did not improve the scene at all. Like, yeah man you didn't like the end result... but it happened. Just accept what is...

Different color timing essentially. They took the HD restoration from 2007 that was done in the UK and paired it with a new 4K scan of a US release print. I guess the reasoning is that the color timing on the 2007 UK restoration was controversial and wanted to offer buyers a choice.

CORRECTION: The 4K scan was apparently from the Interpositive not a release print. For comparison, here's the High Def Digest review which has screen shots of both side-by-side: https://bluray.highdefdigest.com/618...fdarkness.html There's also a review on this site as well if that's something you're interested in.

Just started watching the series. But i'm watching them backwards. Starting with 5 down to 1That way i'll watch the first one by Sunday Halloween

Oh, side note: You gotta switch to Atmos on disc Otherwise, 2.0

I loved the Atmos on H1 and H2, and if you like newer Atmos mixes, then I highly recommend them. However - I would also recommend you leave it on the Ultra Stereo for H4. Not only is it just a damn fine nice track, the dialogue/effects are perfectly in sync, unlike the 5.1 and Atmos versions.

Same, though I'm trying to warm up to the 2.0 on Halloween II. For III I like the mono for some reason (or is it 2.0?) the movie doesn't really have much action and it's a ton of dialogue, so it suits it more to me. 4 and 5 are the 2.0 without question I can't imagine them sounding much better.

Started with Halloween 4 in 2.0 Stereo in Dolby Surround

Halloween 5 - 2.0 Stereo in Dolby Surround

And about to do Halloween III in Atmos
(This one has always been MONO, so I’m thinking this ATMOS mix might stay more true to the original mix with the score pumping thru the surrounds.

Then will watch Halloween 78 in MONO (Dolby Surround mode for 2.0 MONO will then feed the audio as center channel 1.0)

And end nite with Halloween II in 2.0 Stereo in Dolby Surround

Apparently Greg Nicotero would have fought you on that, if you listen to the commentary track with Danielle Harris there's some juicy gossip.

Gotta say it was really rough going from 1-5 in 4K to 6 (producers cut) and 7 in lowly HD. Hope we get those two next year.

It wouldn't shock me if that H20 transfer was created in the '90s. So bad.

Seriously, I’m positive it’s from the same 2k master as the old non anamorphic DVD. Wasn’t much of a step up.

Yep, I'm pretty sure every disc uses that transfer. The Dimension catalog is a mess.

They do have a signature look don’t they? Dark, dirty, DNR’d with residual EE everywhere.

This is such a high quality release. The transfer is magnificent. It really made me appreciate the unique cinematography. I always thought H5 was a boring looking movie. But make no mistake, this 4K transfer proves I was very wrong about that. Glad the original 2.0 Ultra Stereo Mix is also included. Love the extras and I discovered a new appreciation for H5, which I never had before, because of this amazing release.

Having just re-watched all 3 of the Disney era Miramax Halloween films, this is frustratingly true. The producer's cut of H6 looks great by comparison because it was never released by Buena Vista and therefore has none of the issues you listed. It's frustrating to know how good they could look but don't because none of the half dozen or so distributors for the Miramax/Dimension catalogue has seen fit to actually go in and remaster them properly.

Is this something that Scream has hinted might be coming?

Still being a student back in the earlier days of the format, I obviously didn't have the money for big, expensive boxsets back then and missed out on the old Halloween set. I absolutely love the new 4Ks of 1-5 from Scream, and was hoping they'd go on and do (at least) 6, but ideally even H20 and Resurrection as well.
