I only played to NG++, actually. Partly because I've played 344 games as a Blue Phantom. I'd like to Platinum Get, but, being a big Black Isle/Bioware nerd of yore, had Dragon Age on reserve for the longest time and been playing that. Also bought Modern Warfare 2 on a whim for the coop and $20 credit from US Amazon since Bioware saw fit to not include coop in DA like they did Baldur's Gate.
You can that sword in 2-3 (Keel Smasher / Dragon Bone Smasher) via Pure White Tendency, yeah. |

I've been trying for a couple of days to kill that blue dragon. Biorr was killed on my first attempt, so I have to go it alone now. I am using Sticky Long Bow +4, which does 21 HP of damage per shot. I also use Poison Cloud, which takes 5 HPs a second off. I can get him to the steps, I just get wasted after that, even while staying in the safe spots. It won't stay locked onto his head. I'll lock on, then as soon as I fire away, the lock goes off and I miss my shots.

I'd suggest using the Clever Rat's Ring and Morion Blade, beardmoen. Although, if you don't have the Makoto or Poison Cloud, not sure how you'd get to less than 30% health. Also, if you have a Monk's Head Collar and Ring of Magical Sharpness (and Kris Blade if you don't have a Morion Blade) you could also equip those to Soul Arrow it to death.
Edit - I just noticed you totally wrote you have Poison Cloud. So, yeah, try using the Clever Rat's Ring and Morion Blade (if you have it). I believe it's after the second breathe you can run up the steps to the archway under the Blue Dragon. Don't stop until you get to the archway or you'll get torched. It'll still take forever to kill it, but you can get off one or two shots per two breathes while standing under him. The first RPG I played was Wasteland for the C64. That was a fun game. Unless you count text adventures on the Vic20. Pirate Cove! And, to be honest, I absolutely abhorred Fallout 3. I found it silly with god awful AI and was buggy as poop. It took me about three hours to beat the end because the game kept crashing and I kept crying. Last edited by tarvis; 11-24-2009 at 05:11 PM. |

I have yet to find the Morion Blade or the Makoto. I'm not really sure how I would get below 30% to use the Clever Rat's Ring. Would I be able to leave the area with the dragon and take some hits from some soldiers or something? I would try to get hit by the dragon's fire, but it sometimes kills me with one attack, even with the Purple Flame Shield and Water Veil active. I'm wearing the King's Armor if that is any help. /
I'm still on the first encounter with the blue dragon. I'm just waiting for my magic to regenerate, takes a long time. But I'm thinking of farming more souls to raise my Magic damage. Quote:

Equip the Clever Rat's Ring, cast Poison Cloud in front of yourself and then just run into it. ;o
Equip the ring beforehand, that way you'll know when you hit less than 30% pretty easily because you'll get The Glow. Or if you play from the start of the map, just let yourself get shot by arrows. |

I decided to bite the bullet and let it flame me. Nearly killed me, but now I can equip the Clever Rat's Ring. Soul Ray does 58 damage per hit now. Now I'm waiting for my magic to regenerate. So how do I make it safely below the blue dragon while it is perched on the arch? Equip Flame Resistance Ring and run like hell? I had the +29 endurance bonus for equipment being 50% less than my max carry, but the Sticky Bow ruined that doubling the weight of the smaller bow that I onced used.

Well, every time I've run up the steps I've done it unemcumbered with 40 Endurance (max stamina). I just wait till the break, which I'm pretty sure is after the second time he breathes fire, but, shrug, could be the third, then truck it all the way up the steps and never stop. It's not a real break, by the way, it's just that when the dragon breathes fire again, he'll start back at the bottom of the steps which gives you enough time to make it to the archway.

Gotcha. I made it underneath him the first time, but Biorr was there taking the punishment. Sucks that he had die so young. I'll need to upgrade one of my weapons that I do not use, then I will upgrade to Morion Blade. |

In the offchance you didn't see it, you can buy Fresh Spice mostly on the cheap from Blige in The Shrine of Storms. Do a couple Reaper runs in 4-2 and you'll have more than enough Souls to blow on them.
Getting the Morion Blade is definately worth it. With that in your offhand and the Clever Rat's Ring equipped you'll be blowing everything up. Equipping the Thief's Ring and/or casting Cloak is also generally a good idea due to the low health requirement. Edit - To beat a dead preface, haven't played in a while, but I believe my Moon Uchigatana +5 has a base attack power of 200~. With only the Clever Rat's Ring it'll jump to 400~. Equipping the Morion Blade then in my offhand jumps it up to 1000~. Both stack with the Monk's Head Collar and Ring of Magical Sharpness to then greatly increase your Magic Damage. Which allows you to kill the Old Hero, Maneater, etc with one casting of Firestorm. May not even need the ring freeing up the spot for the Ring of Avarice. I do my farming at 1-4 (Penetrator). Going up towards the dragon and back around the castle gets me about 45,000 a round. Takes about 15 minutes to do so. I've leveled up my Magic twice since my last message.

You could try it, depending on whether you have Biorr saved or not. You'll probably get toasted unless you can reach the safe spot underneath the blue dragon. Bring a ton of arrows and magic spice with you.

My first playthrough I think I was doing 50 damage per hit with the Silver Catalyst, Kris Blade, Monk's Head Collar and Ring of Magical Sharpness equipped while using Soul Arrow to kill the Blue Dragon. I brought 100 Fresh Spice and a lot of spare time. Don't remember how many spices I actually used or how long it took.
So as long as you don't mind sitting in front of the tv for a little while, I concur, go for it ;o |

I need the pure clearstone to upgrade my Long Sword to +5, before I can even think of leveling it to +8 to get to the Morion option. I know the lizards in 2-3B leave pure clearstone, but they haven't done that for me yet.
