I've noticed that XP and money is a lot easier to come by in Awakening.

With the PSN out for quite a lot longer now, I decided to start this yesterday night. I like it so far. I am just about to finish the origin story (I think). The only thing I'm not sure I like is the combat (as there are things I do not know how to do yet, i.e. command other characters A.I., etc.).

You started this the other night and you think you're almost done with Origins? Impossible

Given that the game is extremely long (I've read upwards of 80 hours if one is very diligent), beating it over the weekend would be quite a feat.

It will take some time to get used to the combat and everything. It took me pretty much a whole playthrough to get the basics down. Though my first playthrough was kind of rushed and I missed a lot. My 2nd playthrough, I did all the quests, bought Tomes, recipes for traps, poisons, herbs etc. It just takes some getting used to. I didn't like the game at first. I played the Dalish Elf story and was like

Yup, it's good to have people with similar tastes. I might not have played Final Fantasy XIII

I'm taking a small break from Awakening for now. I feel it will take a while to even play all the DLC

I'm 50/50 on the FFXIII. Bioware ruined turn based combat for me
