It was only some of the smug writing from Roald Dahl which hurt the YOLT version. Yeah, we get it - you hate TV, so have Bond make a swipe at it. You have chewing-gum, so have both Willy Wonka and the Oompa-Loompas berate it. Dahl was a chain-smoker, yet saw that as something perfectly acceptable. Ah, feel better for that!

Glad that you think that DAF is scr*p, as it's one of worst of the series. Camp, smug, tired, camp. Yes - typed it twice for emphasis. Gray in drag looks like the worst tranny you'll ever find on Craigslist, second only to Bubba Smith in Police Academy 3.

I don't know if I believe that article. He trashed the movies publicly and seemed happy to be done with the character(who was killed off in a deleted ending in QoS). I'd love to have him in it as Number 2 in SPECTRE, but I ain't holding my breath.

The problem with YOLT was the plot. The first half of the movie was pretty good, but once we get into the volcanic lair, the Pac Man rocket ships, Bond "disguised" as a Japanese man, and Pleasance's goofy take on Blofeld, it all falls apart. Plus SPECTRE's plan makes no sense. How would they dominate the world after Russia and the US nuke the planet into oblivion?

I can't stand DAF. Anyone who thinks Roger Moore made the series campy needs to go back and revisit that travesty, cuz that's where it really started. A fat, tired, bored Connery giving a lazy performance. The worst Blofeld ever. A lousy Bond girl. Bizarre henchmen. Lame action sequences(the elevator fight was ok, but that's about it). And a plot almost as dumb as YOLT's. Plus it all but ignored what went down in the vastly superior OHMSS. The only saving graces of this movie were the pre-title sequence with a PO'd Bond and John Barry's score.

it will certainly be a challenge to top Skyfall's success or at least equal it.
Being that most of all the creative team is back for Spectre it should be spot on in everything we love about Bond! Now they just have to announce who will do the title song.
