From what I know no he’s not. Why would he respond when he had nothing to do with the remastering. He just had somebody it and he signed off on it or else he would have noticed it.

Except that 100% false, yet you continue your hateful outrage narrative even though you have absolutely no clue how the actual remastering went down. Nice try though, but it's grown stale and tired. Find a new crusade.

(Also, I doubt he would know every second from an 80+ episode show from 10+ years ago, especially since he didn't write and direct ost of them. You certainly wouldn't, and the fact you think he would shows how embarrassingly little you understand about such matters.)

He said he remaster the series scene by scene so clealy either he cut corners or he’s lying that he was involved at all.

Yep, I don't get how the remaster could be in mono. Why would the Blu-ray audio be inferior to the DVD?

When searching for this issue, I actually found a piracy group releasing the BDs with DVD audio for this very reason. I am surprised no one here is talking about it. I will be returning to Amazon.
Interesting. I'm surprised a board full of supposed-enthusiasts have not picked up on this. This should be a relatively easy thing to verify just by listening to what channels dialogue and music are coming from.

Question Audio Issue?

Anyone notice a weird audio issue (an echoey, almost tunnel-like sound) on the episode Animal Control (Season 7, Disc 2)?

Or am I crazy? (or both)

I’ve noticed Shawn is still refusing to comment on the screw up. And people still think he didn’t have anything to do with the editing.

Reading about all these issues, is it a better idea to watch the DVDs? I found one set used for $35 CND, and after all these audio and edit problems, I'm considering buying it.

Reading this tread is a total bummer ... All I wanted was one of the greatest cop series on BluRay .

After following this thread for a couple of weeks, i did just that. I bought the dvd set for thirty bucks from Deep Discount, and it looks and sounds just fine, though the packaging leaves something to be desired. After all, it’s just a tv cop show. Albeit a great one.

I see you're still at a it, and don't understand he didn't personally edit episodes down. Did you want to keep posting more misinformation to mislead people?

And again, not you or anyone would know if a few seconds are missing from 80+ hours, so stop acting like you understand how TV shows are produced or remastered.

Maybe when you can prove it with facts that Ryan blatantly is screwing you over personally, then maybe people will listen to the incessant ranting, but until then, you might want to stop before you look even more foolish.

And as I've said before, if you are okay with revisionist framing but not okay with revisionist edits, then you are a hypocrite and your opinion ceases to matter. That IS a fact, because it proves you don't actually want it like it originally aired, so your crusade is officially dead, dude.

If I don’t know there are stuff missing then how come when I checked the dvd set that first released after the show ended the dvd version of all the episodes that are rumored to be edited are longer on the dvd but shorter on the Bluray? And again the show was filmed for Widescreen safe meaning we are not missing anything and it was not cropped. If Shawn didn’t edit out anything but then he says he was 100% involved in the remastering. So yes that leaves me to believe he edited the show on purpose and that’s why he is refusing to comment further on it and if he’s going to fix the problem and issue a disc replacement program. He said it himself the only episodes that are not edited is the series finale the rest are edited the way they had to in order to air the show in Europe. Seeing how i don’t live in Europe I should t have to watch a water down version of a show.

This is exactly the kind of cr@p that makes releasing a show in HD a neverending hassle for the studios.
Why do you think Sony would not have anything to do with it? Not worth their time and effort.
Am I happy about these edits? Of course not. But I can sure live with them.
A few seconds out of, what, 70 hours? Give me a break.
There's a silver lining, though. If you have all this time and energy to devote to such "problems", you must be a very lucky person, with little or nothing to (really) worry about.

If they won’t get it right then why release it at all? They got the dvd version right so there’s no reason to edit and censore a show in the US just cause people in Europe kind handle a little bit of violence.

Reading a few of these comments just confirms that I don't need the Blu-ray set. I'm not fond of the fact that it looks better than the TV broadcasts, as this was always supposed to have a gritty, unpolished look. And now I'm reading that some of the episodes are NOT the complete versions broadcast on U.S. television? No thanks.

Easiest way to determine how much has been edited is if a US DVD owner posts a list of episode run times. Maybe do an entire season (I would recommended season 3 since “Mum” is on that season) and someone with the BluRay can compare. What I have noticed is a season premiere and finale are roughly 49+ minutes long, one of the episodes in season 4 was 65 minutes and everything else I have noticed is in the 46:— minute mark with a couple episodes (“Mum” included) in the 45:— minute range. Since the run times are so consistent I don’t know if the cuts are even that present, apart from at least one, confirmed, episode.

But hey, I am absolutely with you here. The BluRay set is amazing and I wouldn’t sell it for anything. The PQ is amazing and the sound is fine if you have two functioning ears and a TV that can increase the volume. Now maybe I don’t worry any edits as I wouldn’t know what would be cut from any episode (except for Acevada being assaulted and I can live without it) but for someone who is thoroughly enjoying the set, some of you on the fence are doing yourselves a big disservice.

People are pissed, and rightfully so, because of what one could determine as "false advertisement". If the EU and US cuts were intended from the beginning they could have saved a lot of hassle by being upfront about it. Sure some people would still complain, but it gives the consumer the option of making an informed decision/purchase.

Please... as if ABC or NBC would ever air Game of Thrones, Rome or Californication uncensored.

People here in Europe have no problem with a little bit of violence. The problem was that the show aired on channels that are free to air and so those channels were bound to certain regulations. A bit like how network shows in the US don't show any nudity or feature any swearing - something particularly ridiculous in the case of 'gritty' shows like The Shield (of which I am a huge fan) and Sons of Anarchy.
