I'm surprised there hasn't been a trailer for this yet.

And now they're $4.00. Comic collecting now has become very expensive. And to be honest, I don't know that all the stories are worth it. It seems to me that the stories coming out of comic books haven't been very good in quite some time. There are a few good stories sprinkled here and there, but by and large, comics just aren't as good as they used to be.

I heard him say something recently, that he didn't think he had composed anything that anyone's going to eventually remember, and it made me sad. I understand humility and I understand being gracious, but if John Williams, of all people, actually laments he hasn't composed anything anyone's going to remember...if THAT guy hasn't composed lasting music then God help the mere mortals walking the earth, and all those who follow.

He's always lacked in the ego department. One of my favorite anecdotes involving him is him being shown a rough cut of Schindler's List.

Quote:
When his longtime collaborator, the director Steven Spielberg, showed him Schindler's List, the composer felt it would be too challenging to score. He said to Spielberg, 'You need a better composer than I am for this film.' Spielberg responded, 'I know. But they're all dead!'

Score for Jaws alone would earn him an honored seat at the table in Valhalla.

I’m surprised they have not announced a 4K steelbook for this one. Would be pretty cool.

John Williams has composed scores for so many movies in his career that, he feels that nobody would remember them, which is a fair statement. It's good that he's not egotistical nor arrogant towards people who's complementing his work because he's modest. Being egotistical is not a good characteristic from anybody because, it shows that you're placing yourself on a pedestal, snobbish and thinking that you are above everybody else. Being modest doesn't mean that he doesn't care about how other people feel who acknowledged and appreciates his work. Nobody know him personally except his family and close friends who know John William (the man) other than John Williams (the film composer)... John Williams is one of the most prolific film composers in the industry, and he share his success and gives credit to other film composers (besides himself) who have scored many movies as well.

Somewhat on topic - the new issue if Cinema Retro has the cover story for "Superman" with reminiscing from key folk from the film - the article is dedicated to the memory of Margot Kidder.
