This I will agree on, otherwise most new 'SDR remasters' (conversions, really) would not look as close as they do, to the HDR grade.

If you are talking about the unaltered original versions, There is a higher chance of Elvis Presley rising from the grave to record a new album and doing a comeback tour than expecting to see official releases of these any time remotely soon.

If you mean the Special Editions, there are individual releases and a nine-film box set, but there haven't been any trilogy-specific box sets.

If you mean the theatrical cuts, there are no official HD/4K releases of those at all.

Someone months ago somewhere in this thread (lol) showed 7.1 DTS wav forms to the 7.1 (Atmos core) wav forms. There were notable times when the blurays DTS 7.1 had less information in the surrounds than what the 7.1 had in the sides or rears, so I would assume it is a different mix.

No, I just was wondering if there are plans to release the current 4K editions as a single set for the original trilogy (episodes 4-6). I know they did this with the blu-ray releases so was hoping they'd do it for the 4K editions.

I guess I can pick up the individual releases but would prefer a set.

No plans for this.

They'll probably do individual trilogies one day, but for what it's worth the individual releases have incredibly nice packaging and design, so I would highly recommend the individual releases, especially if you can still get them with the very attractive foil slipcovers. Now if only they would get Rise of Skywalker to match the others though.

I highly recommend the new 4k transfers of the OT. It is probably the closest Lucasfilm will ever get these films to the way they used to look. And as Motorhead said, the SE additions blend in much better with the film. And you dont have to have a 4k player to enjoy them, because the blu rays that come with them are based off the same master.

Personally I thought Jedi was the worse for DNR. I rather enjoyed Empire in that respect. The colour platter was the best thing about it. The 2011 blurays looked nice but were so wrong when it came to the colour. The average viewer may well like that!

I’d actually but the original trilogy again in a 4K trilogy boxset if the packaging was lush.

I wouldn't unless we received the original theatrical cuts and/or all extras ever done for IV-VI.

I noticed that on all the discs and individual 4k covers that the Episode number isn't listed but only the name of the movie.

I was expecting this since the individual steelbook releases did not have the numerals either.

Everything looks much more natural and even a lot of the old 1997 Special Edition enhancements blend into the image much better than I was used to in the previous editions. It's too bad about the overzealous grain-management, though.
While a marked improvement upon George's previous "final" versions/visions - the colours still do not represent the theatrical look.
Which I guess is fine, because they're not the theatrical versions anyway...

This has been a Disney thing. They dropped the Episode numbers. They marketed TFA as "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" instead of "Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens". At the time it seemed like a canny move to break the association with the prequels, which relied so heavily on the Episode I, Episode II, & Episode III titles. I don't mind. It's certainly cleaner this way. It always kinda bothered me when they went back and marketed the original films as "Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back", etc. for all the previous DVD and Blu-ray releases. And this way, I can put them on my shelf in release order without having the roman numerals all out of place.

I purchased all the individual 4K cases which means I can put A New Hope followed by Empire then Jedi first without it looking out of place now because the Episode number isn't listed on the spines.

Same. I'm glad they did it this way. I actually have them listed in the order of when they were made, instead of by episode numbers now.

Something I disliked intensely about the complete saga boxed set was the discs having the episode numbers ONLY. The Tatooine box version at least has an image from the movie printed on the disc. But other sets have uniform grey labelled discs.

I much prefer the non-numbered discs in the Skywalker Saga set. The disc label art is excellent too.

The original names of the prequels were so darn long. They had a colon, roman numerals, and an em dash. Of course Lucas then renamed the originals.
