I will tell you that although it's not prefect, Return of the Jedi on 4K looks the best it ever has on home media releases. Could they have done a better job on it? Heck yes! But it's way better than the 2011 releases from FOX. That release of Return of the Jedi had some scenes having DVD quality, It was atrocious! |

@PUsokrJosh305,
I guess you are right, just somewhat baffled how they never seem to be able to get these 100% right. Maybe they are? To me they just don't seem like it, watching these screenshots on a 45% NTSC laptop maybe isn't the best thing either. I can easily tell that they could of done with some more saturation/colors, though. Maybe one day... @Warm Gun, yeah, it's BD. vs BD here, so sRGB vs. sRGB, computers are quite able to reproduce that. Btw, the DE remastered is the same as the 2020 2K release in US/UK too. |

The colour saturation and contrast are much higher than the original presentations. The newer transfers are more accurate. |

I don't have it personally, but I know people who do and it's horrible to witness. It's been well documented that her abuse stemmed from living with that all her life. It's really tragic. ![]() Last edited by The Fallen Deity; 02-02-2021 at 12:00 PM. |

Well the DNR and stuff worry about, but not that slightly odd looking grading there that was just a strange SDR conversion. |

The colours are off on the "new" versions too.

For reference: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Star-...lu-ray/262682/ BT.709 is the same thing as REC.709 or sRGB, so fully resolvable on a computer screen, in case you have a proper screen. I would say the colors you are seeing on that website, IN THIS CASE, is what you'll see on the blu-ray, or very, very close to. |

The color-grading is the best thing about the new transfers-- after the insanely bad grading of the Pink-Saber DVD set and the better but still off colors of the Blu-Ray versions, it feels like they finally got it right with the 4K remasters. Everything looks much more natural and even a lot of the old 1997 Special Edition enhancements blend into the image much better than I was used to in the previous editions. It's too bad about the overzealous grain-management, though.

Anyway there probably still is an HDR->SDR conversion since quite a few studios haven't bothered with new SDR grades andhave just done new HDR grades and then had a computer quickly create SDR from that. That said, HDR wasn't too extreme on 4-6 so you wouldn't think it would end up too far off. I haven't checked out that scene yet, maybe it represents the UHD properly, maybe not. |

I felt the colors, shadow, and dynamic range were very nice. The detail was beyond any version we've seen before (official or otherwise). It was the DNR and artifacts leftover from grain mgt that were the biggest issue. The EE, especially on Empire, was the second the biggest issue IMO but not nearly to the same magnitude as the DNR. However, these issues as a whole just makes them look more processed than otherwise.
