So I just received this. I noticed that the front of the metalpak doesn't sit flush on the spine side/left side, almost as if the front was slightly warped. It kind of creates a really small arch, with the widest portion of the gap above the title on the spine.

It isn't noticeable when viewing from the front, and I suppose it isn't grotesquely obvious when viewing from the spine either unless you're being observant. But it's definitely there and it's all my eyes are drawn to despite how good this metalpak looks.

20180720_191554.jpg

So I guess what I'm asking is: is this normal for metalpaks? Do I need to relax?

It's my first metalpak, I just recently started collecting steelbooks and haven't noticed this issue with any of them. But I just want to ask much more experienced people in this hobby if it's a common thing or if I need to start thinking about facilitating a return. I understand everyone's mileage varies on what they will or will not tolerate, but if this is a common thing it would help me just take it for what it is.

Thanks!

The design of Metalboxes (not Metalpaks) are slightly different and can allow for a slight bow. I think this is rather normal and not really a defect.

I don't have one with me now, but if I recall, MBs are hinged at the ends and not the centre, so there is always a small margin of error.

SteelBooks have cover and spine attached with a plastic hinge as opposed to MB's metal hinge.

Long story short, I think it is just a property of the design itself and not a manufacturing error.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah I decided last night to just roll with it. It's in perfect condition aside from that. It's tough to ignore imperfections but at this point I can't really dwell or finding "perfect" 6 years after it came out.

Thanks for the explanation and thoughtful response.

Amazon Sucks Part 2: The Returns
All four going back again.
I'm probably getting picky at this point but now I'm just angry.

edit: the website refuses to offer me an exchange, and is forcing me to accept an amazon giftcard for the returns. Haha!!
Customer service has now flagged all of these items and removed them for sale until they investigate damaged items.
The have manually created me another return label and will be honoring a direct refund not a gift card.

If someone here has copies available to sell they can physically look at, I have no problem with buying used ones.

What happened to amazon's trade-in program for collectible steel books and other media?

Default Annihilation: Premium Release ?

Place your bets!
Not savvy enough to set up a poll, so just posting this as a question.
Which Premium Label do you want to release this really cool flik in Steel?
also, secondary choice if you desire...
1. - Manta
2. - BluFans
3. - FAC
4. - HDZeta
5. - P.A.
6. - Other (e.g. Cinemuseum, Mlife, UHD, etc)

or, would just a secondary Premium retailer suffice?
1. - Kimchi
2. - Nova
3. - Zavvi
4. - Best Buy
5. - Other (e.g. SteelArchive, FNAC, OnlyBlu, etc)

Please, don't make this a joint measuring contest about which Premium Retailer is better, unless it relates to the product.

My 1st choice of course would be Manta, followed by Blufans, BUT BF doesn't as yet do 4K so yeah, there's that...
Cheers!

My best bet would go to either Kimchi or Nova

Choosing one over the other is, in effect, a measuring contest of who you think is the better premium retailer.

None. Hit or miss for all retailers.

Is the Mission Impossible Ultimate Collection jumbo steel with films 1-5 for $17 as good a price as eBay implies, where it’s $60+?

I returned those but I do have a ton of other steels with similar dents. Do you have a guide for this posted somewhere?

Any word on more "Christmas Classics" steelbooks being released this Holiday Season? Last year, steelbook editions of Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Elf, and A Christmas Story were released! Has anyone heard anything about more such releases coming later this year? Would love if they released steelbook editions of Home Alone 2, The Grinch, and The Santa Clause!

I have noticed some of the posts of damaged steelbooks... There are some fun ways to fix these that are easy but take a little patience. Step 1. Place a nice clean towel on a flat surface then lay out your steel book in the open position. (minus the discs) step 2. Use two ice picks or a carving tool that looks like a ice pick from Hobby Lobby or Dicks art supplies. Also use a little plastic dish scrapper or a paint scrapper for plastic insert removal. Take the ice pick and place between plastic and metal case near outside edge ( where you open the case normally) once in place you will then slide towards plastic clip. Slide in little plastic dish scrapper or paint scraper covered in a napkin or paper towel to not scratch your collectable, then use same ice pick to separate the section 2 inches below that and follow same previous directions. Gently pry open. One side will be totally disconnected, then fiddle gently with the plastic near the spine ( use ice pick if necessary). This is super easy and fast once you're practiced a couple of times on a cheapy steelbook you don't care that gets damaged. Step 4. Hold steelbook down on hard flat surface and use a base ball card over the top of the dent along with a tightening clamp placed over dent and bottom of table. Or use a drafting pencil and scribble back and forth then erase the lead. Or lightly heat area with a lighter ( no plastic insert) then dry ice or hold air can upside down and spray.

United Kingdom Halloween Rob Zombie Collectors Edition Steelbook

Hi guys,

Hope you can help me, am really liking the new steelbook that's in Best buy.. not sure if it's an exclusive

My question is it region free or locked to Region A?

So want it for my collection as we have never had a blu ray release for it in the UK yet they did a blu ray for Halloween II

Strange I know, but if anyone can help me that would be appreciated

I looked on the back of my steelbook and I did not see a region code so I am not sure if it is region free. If the regular release was then this should be also since I believe it is the same set of discs.
