Zakk just sucks, and JP doesn't need to be doing American Idol.

Thems fightin' words! Zakk is one of the best quitar players I've heard. And in the words of James, "Give metal a chance America." Judas Priest is a solid band so why shouldn't they be on American Idol? Not everyone is a country or pop fan so I say AI needs to mix it up a bit.

That's a pretty big shift from earlier in the season when you were saying that Scotty was very good/great.
I liked Lee on the show last year because he was good...not "listen to him after the show is over" good though. I've heard his album and it blows

There's no definitive way to say someone is good or not. Some people will say that Elvis isn't good (I don't like him), some will say that Steven Tyler isn't good....and some will say Miley Cyrus IS good
It's all about the individual person's ear.

Well u obviously havnt been reading my post on a week to week basis. I liked Jacob less and less as each week went on. He simply lost it and sumthin happened to that kid. As for Scotty he is a good country genre singer and thats it. As the weeks went on he became boring and showed no range and sounded the same week after week, song after song. Of course thoughts change over a course of a show. I didnt like Haley early on but she became my favorite. Got Em!!

This is a big part of why Idol isn't working for me. This is a meaningless number in real world terms. How many teeny boppers can text 10,000 times and never buy a CD?
Idol would be leagues better if they limited voting to 5 votes per device. It can be done.

There's not much bonus in winning Idol anyway in terms of post show sales.

Only four people have sold more than 3 million albums in the shows history.

Those would be Carrie Underwood (easily the shows biggest hit and longest sustained hit), Kelly Clarkson (who's popularity has largely faded), Chris Daughtry (who has outsold his season's winner 8 to 1 with one less release) and Clay Aiken (who had his last two releases fail to break 200,000 and 100,000).


To be fair, the last three seasons of competitors only have 1 release for most of them...but none of them will get close to that 3 million mark with even two more releases.

Yes I am. Here is a link to James Durbin's blog. iTunes top 25 downloads for Idol and 7 are Haley and 6 are for James. This just proves the people actually buying the music like Haley and James the most, while a bunch of teenie boppers who shouldn't have phones to begin with are overpowering the voting system on Idol, IMHO.

Anyone who takes Idol seriously and thinks it will produce quality chart-topping artists are clearly overestimating the show. It's simply just guilty-pleasure entertainment. I'm bored, I want music, I tune in to Idol. That's it. Sure, once in a while, someone will make it big, but winning or being in the competition does not translate to actual success most of the time. There's a reason these guys haven't been discovered prior to Idol.
