Because the changes of the four Renaissance films were approved by Musker and Clements (for The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) and Don Hahn (for Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King). There's no one around anymore to change Walt's films and approve them.

And I got negative reactions for saying movies are better off when the filmmakers are dead. Studios have a better track record than directors and cinematographers in my book.

Disney flat out refused to correct the flipped shots on the BD3D. They were starting to get lukewarm on 3D by that point for the consumer market. Still PO’d at their flat out refusal. It was the beginning of the end of them caring about the quality of the home releases. |

Is it common for Disney to still have Slipcovers for their stuff like 4Ks when you buy it from DMC? Cause I bought this from DMC and I honest to god did not expect to get a copy with a slip, after what? 3 years since this release came out?

A while back, I ordered Meet the Robinsons 3D and received a slip with my bluray, which I believe was about 5 years after it came out on bluray. I ordered Tomorrowland as well- about the same time frame, maybe a year later- this time no slip was included. So it can be hit or miss in that regard.

Can't say for DMC but I got this, Aladdin, and Beauty from Amazon last month and they had slips, and Lion King from Bullmoose and it had a slip. I think people have been slow to 4K so it's probably more likely to have them. Star Wars is one that I've seen in retail without them, though.

Probably partly confirmation bias, since I went out of my way to get this audio, but pretty good. Sounds like true surround sound, whereas the LaserDisc just sounds like stereo that should stay stereo when upmixed. Slightly deeper than the Atmos, voices are slightly less harsh.

Yeah this title was front heavy center/stereo from what I remember. I want to say it didn't have any rear sound activity at all. I just remember being very unimpressed with the audio at the theater I saw it at, now Aladdin had a good mix, but that was a few years later.

I bought the Original Star Wars Trilogy DVDs during covid when I was on my Star Wars tear and it wasn't outrageously priced on ebay. I think I paid $50 for all three including tax and shipping.
Plus there's some special digital thing around that people have talked about but I'm fine with the DVDs unless Disney really does release the original on bluray or 4K. I'd be happy just with bluray to be honest. I don't like digital fixes at all even for mistakes. In the music world they do this BS all the time. I can't remember the live album but Old Peter Gabriel went back and recorded fixes for Young Peter Gabriel. His voice had changed! Mick Jagger has done this for Stones outtakes, so did Bruce Springsteen. I really hate that. I want to hear the original outtake as is especially when we already have a bootleg of the song we KNOW you've changed something on the song. Fixes for live concerts I also don't like. For the most part, The Grateful Dead and Neil Young don't do fixes on live releases. Last edited by 50strat54; 02-16-2023 at 05:17 PM. |

It's crazy how every single release of this has different colors than every other release (and this includes theatrical since the original and re-release theatrically even had different colors). From original 35mm to VHS to alternate VHS to each DVD to 35mm re-release to each blu-ray to UHD, not one has the same colors as any other hah.
