Yes, we figured let's cover all our bases re: aspect ratio. Glad it's appreciated.
We only had access to the European "R-rated" cut of DEATH RIDE TO OSAKA. The U.S. TV version aired as GIRLS OF THE WHITE ORCHID. According to Jonathan Kaplan, DEATH RIDE was the original title and that's the title he shot it under. In the case of DEATH RIDE, as it was made for international theatrical play, the widescreen framing is true to source as well. Quote:

Really excited for the Primetime Panic boxset. The cover art is awesome, definitely evokes those old TV Guide illustrations. I think someone on Twitter in relation to OCN or VS was sharing some old TV Guide illustrations earlier last month. I won't attempt to search for them right now, but damn, the new boxset really has that exact vibe going.
(Maybe they are the actual illustrations that were used for TV Guide ads? In any case, I really enjoy the look of it!) |

Dreams Don't Die is an automatic buy for me. Never dreamed I'd see a quality release of this. I love love Trini Alvarado. Not as gritty as it should be but it is shot on location. Interesting that a network tv movie was very early in recognizing the graffiti art craze and a nice pairing to the Martha Cooper documentary.

We believe it's the first fiction film to prominently feature graffiti and have a graffiti writer as protagonist. It predates WILD STYLE, BEAT STREET, STYLE WARS and Cooper and Chalfant's book, SUBWAY ART.

The box sounds interesting, although I would have preferred another Mare Winningham TV movie from the early 1980's, namely OFF THE MINNESOTA STRIP, in which she becomes a teen prostitute IIRC.

As is always the case, you work with what’s available to a large degree. Your preferred Mare film is not part of the catalog from which these 3 films came.

I should probably start looking into these Fun City releases. Fortunately I'm not committed to slipcovers so I don't mind losing them. Got to admit, I'm a bit floored there's a label out there willing to carry over a booklet from a limited release to a standard, so major props for that. I'd take a booklet over a slipcover 75 times a day.

Never seen Dreams Don't Die but i'm a sucker for any movies set in 70's/80's NYC. Is there any chance in the future of putting out an all-time favourite of mine Curtis Hanson's 1986 TV Movie The Children Of Times Square?
