I am sure copies will be available to some weeks before the release date so would be very surprised if there were not at least some on here that had watched and compared them to the previous BD releases in advance.

I only have JW 3D release as far as BD goes, so this set would work for me. It does not claim to be 'Complete' so I would be okay with it. On shelf: box set (1/2/3/JW2D), JW3D individual, JWFK and onward individuals...

Correct me if I'm wrong but Universal don't seem to be on board with Dolby Vision .... EDIT: I lied. The Bourne movies have it. On Digital HD anyway. Hope this will apply for Blu-Rays as well. But either way I think I'll enjoy Jurassic Park with standard HDR10 if done right.

Universal has released a couple of UHD discs with Dolby Vision but they have not been consistent with it like Paramount has. Sadly, the back cover image for the JP collection only lists HDR10, but the digital 4K versions will likely have DV.

Universal, as always, is very intermittent. There is supposed to be Dolby Vision on their upcoming Gladiator UHD Blu-ray distributed by Paramount, but that may be because it's a newer 4k mastering job than the JP films.

Most of Universal's streams have Dolby Vision, don't they? They've been mastering in DV from the start AFAIK, but it's getting it onto disc that's been the big issue. They released the first discs to have DV (Despicable Mes) and one of the first big new release DV titles (Furious 8) but it seems to have dropped off a cliff since.

Hell or High Water has it but was also listed as having Atmos on the packaging and the disc itself but it didn't.

Universal has some issues to work out

In this case I prefer object based audio over DV. I think DTS:X is going to have a much bigger impact.

Though, DTS: X isn't really object based audio in the sense Dolby Atmos is. It isn't able to currently go beyond 11.1 fixed. Atmos is the better of the two immersive formats.

At first I was thinking I'd just wait for an individual release of the first film, but for $50 and then selling the codes and my old BD set, I'll be breaking even pretty easily.

Right, I'm interested only in 2 first movies, but then at this price - tempting.

This might be a problem. Some of the JP1 clips used in the new 25th Anniversary video by Universal are from the 2013 4K scan. Problem is, the clips show no grain at all and feel unnaturally smooth -

JP 3D master to Nublar 1-78-1.jpg

JP 3D master Hammond 1-78-1.jpg

JP 3D master Brachio lake 1-78-1.jpg

JP 3D master Galli valley 1-78-1.jpg

It may be so that the 4K UHD of JP1 is the same grain-reduced master used for the 3D and not the one we are expecting from Universal.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust a blanket marketing video to be indicative of the final product.

Could I take the DNR'ed version without the dirt-brown colour timing of the 3D version? I think I could.

Shouldn't have to compromise, let them just get it right.
