Yep! There’s discussion of this elsewhere and Arrow’s interesting strategy to give both standard and LEs the same MSRP (while simply discounting the standard deeper & more constantly). It’s deceptive in the same way that they call standard editions “special editions.”

For extra clarity: Yes, it’s obvious to the more detail-oriented and boutique-centric folk (like many here) but that doesn’t mean it’s not deceptive. It shouldn’t be that hard to parse (as demonstrated by labels like Indicator and Radiance who make it extremely clear which version you’re ordering).

"This is for informational purposes only. Any specific order issue we will be contacting you directly.

I know some of you are itching for shipping updates so here is some information.

At this point over 70% of all orders have been fulfilled. If you had placed your order on September 15th, 16th or 17th and you have NOT received a shipping confirmation, then one of your movies is on backorder. Read further to see the status of those.

As we said at the beginning of the sale, we wait for the movies to be drop shipped from our distributor. The good news is that once they arrive, we are able to ship out those orders within a day or two. The next batch of movies are coming on Monday, Oct 9th and will cover orders placed on October 18th, 19th & 20th. We are hoping that the rest of the movies will arrive next week as well, and if that happens, we will have all orders taken care of by the end of next weekend.

Backorders. There's a big one, Police Story III 4K. We will be making a final decision on the status of these on the top of next week. If it looks like they are not coming, we will issue you a refund and send your order promptly. Many backordered movies are on the way to us now so your orders will be fulfilled next week: Robocop 4K, Last Starfighter 4k, Lady Whirlwind and Re-Animator.

Slipcovers. Some movies are coming in without slipcovers or they are in terrible condition. They are mostly Severin titles and also a few Arrow. If you have ordered one of these, we will reach out to you individually to find out if you still want the movie or if you want a refund.

Much as I love ORBIT, it seems like they were not adequately prepared to handle the orders from their sale. There are issues with slipcovers and then forgetting to BCC emails to all the affected customers which resulted in every reply going back to Orbit also showing up in my inbox. Plus, and it's extremely rare for me to ever complain about slow shipping, it has been taking them a very long time to ship purchases. I can wait, but I'm surprised by the issues they have encountered post-sale.

Rarewaves site a little buggy at the moment. It won't allow me to use the filter function. It just keeps bringing up copies of THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER and CHILDREN OF THE CORN and I can't access any other titles or labels or formats.

To be fair though, they did say the stock was not on hand. It was being drop shipped. So there would be slower ship times and no way to know the condition of the slips until they came in.

I believe Mike from Grindhouse Video stopped doing sales like this because of all the hassle

I got the e-mail also. I made three sale orders. I received the first two, but the last one, which I made on the 25th and was mostly Severin titles, hasn't shipped out yet. Aside from Calamity of Snakes, I don't think any of the titles I ordered came with slips, though.

It was definitely the largest, most ambitious sale, that any of the boutique sellers have ever attempted. Grindhouse and Diabolik have done label specific sales but nothing of this magnitude. Hopefully the hiccups don’t discourage future sales because I thought this was a very good one.

I've skipped on a lot of these sales lately, including some of the big label sales like VS. Not much of a fan anymore of putting in an order and then maybe four weeks later it ships. Sometimes months later.

But perspective is good too. OrbitDVD's sale ended only about two weeks ago, I think, and they've fulfilled 70% of the orders already? That honestly sounds like they're flying through them considering they had to wait on stock to arrive after the sale started. That's a lot of work put in by what is likely just a handful of people pulling orders, checking each item for damage, and packaging carefully. People really underestimate how much more time and effort it takes to do it that way.

It just goes to show how much Orbit has grown in stature. Two years ago, they were a little-known afterthought to me, but they've since become my go-to retailer.
