As it is the month of Halloween I´ve just watched Psycho.

It´s my second viewing of this movie, and the first time on my fantastic Steelbook blu-ray.

I gotta say, this is a piece of crap. Bad acting, bad cinematography, weak story, cannot understand why this movie has made a mark in movie history...

NOT!!!

And there's more...

Halloween: Resurrection.” Parents’ rental.

Eighth in the series. Greeeaaattt…

So Michael Meyers still isn’t dead
[Show spoiler]because somehow there’s been a mix-up in the finale of “H20.” WTF?!! Then Jamie Lee Curtis gets killed off, WTF?!! Why have her in there in the first place?!!

From then on, the movie doesn’t get much better. A bunch of stupid kids roam around the Meyers place “House on Haunted Hill” style, doing the “Blair Witch” thing, getting themselves killed off. I found this storyline very dumb and uninspiring; a skeletal construct on which to include an endless barrage of amateur-style handheld camera footage. Even in the film’s story this is only a novelty; one that grows very wearisome and annoying.

The film has a few gnarly parts and a few good lines (coming from Busta Rhymes…why is he in this film? ), and its production looks okay. But overall, it’s okay as a typical slasher flick, but I feel it’s the dullest and worst of the series. Even the silliness of #6, the off-track meandering of #3, the goofiness of #5, and yes the dullness of #1 ( ) all outclasses this one. Or maybe I’m just sick of the series already. Jeez.

2.5/5 (entertainment: 3/5, story: 2/5, film: 2.5/5)

Scooby Doo.” Parents’ rental. God knows why.

We’ve unanimously agreed that this film sucks. We definitely fall outside the film’s target audience; it definitely aims for the kids and tweens with its goofiness, cartoonish style, and low-brow humor. Easily comparable to “Cats and Dogs,” “G-Force,” and the myriad of others. Perhaps also comparable to the “PopEye” movie. But I think all of those managed to be better.

This film does a good job of replicating the cartoon, I will give it that. The cast is impeccable as their respective roles; they all look and act perfectly like their cartoon counterparts. The sets, props, costumes, etc. all look properly bright, colorful, and cartoony (even if everything does look incredibly fake!). Music is incredibly poppy; brings back memories of the late 90s when I used to listen to all that crap. And ultimately the film does have one or two funny jokes.

That’s where the positivity ends. The story is rather dumb (hey, if you ever watched the cartoon, you know how it plays out). It does have a bit of a twist at the end…but it’s still dumb (might even be dumber!). Characters are dumb…literally. The CGI is terrible, especially by today’s standards. Did I mention that everything looks fake?

What I find most unforgivable is the low-brow humor and slapstick antics. Yeah, it can be good if done right…but here it’s not done right. Lots of farting and burping jokes with no good context, and plenty of stupid parts that make me go . Lots of bad lines. The film just reeks of stupidity. Like so many films, it really didn’t need this much goofiness and low-brow content to achieve its goals, but it’s a shame that the filmmakers thought otherwise.

Might have liked it 15 years ago when I was young, dumb, and didn’t care for quality. But by today’s standards…

2.5/5 (entertainment: 3/5, story: 2/5, film: 2.5/5)

Galaxy of Terror,” my next greatest rental.

Another fine B-rated schlock. It started off promising, with some interesting visuals and some slick (and very dated) SFX. Throughout, the film has some gnarly gore and creature effects, but nowhere near as many as I would have expected judging from its cover and movie posters. The scene with the alien worm molesting…ahem…one of the characters is the most awe-worthy scene in the film; the rest can be dismissed.

Yep, this story sucks. I don’t even know what was going on; the characters spent 90 minutes wandering around getting killed by some alien monsters. Characters weren’t great at all. Their dialogue went in one ear and out the other. After the opening scenes, nothing much in the film really grabbed me at all.

As expected, the film has a limited production value. It looks adequate for what it’s supposed to be, but those looking for quality will be disappointed. I think some of the SFX with the spaceships and stuff look okay, but most monsters look rather fake. Sets, props, and costumes look okay.

2/5 (entertainment: 2.5/5, story: 1/5, film: 2/5)

That's enough bad movies for today...

[Show spoiler]The film child character led the two lovers in despair all because her jealousy framed the guy for rape. This leads to a downward spiral for their lives, as the man no later goes to war and enduring the hardships of it, and the woman lives a life of loneliness (for some reason). The girl grows up as a nurse in a creepy boarding home nursery helping injured soldiers. The itch of it is the interview literally asks us to forgive her for her troubled life and makes everyone's ending as if it were all flowers and sunshine, living in a wonderful place in heaven. What I found the cop out is that it makes her the victim of the whole story.

I've always respected your opinions on film, but here your synopsis of what happened itself is wrong. And your take on the ending is also completely wrong if that's what you took it to meant. That's not even remotely what the ending was about.

The ending of the book is a bit different but the themes and purpose of the book is the same as in the movie.

The Karate Kid (2010) - WOW! Yall already know how I feel about this film as I had already reviewed when I saw it in the theater. Man I have to say this is the best remake period even over my favorite horror remakes. The acting was spot on perfect from all people involved! Easily Jackie's best performance and he should get consideration for best supporting actor (we know about the politics at the academy's) although we know that wont happen. We are witnessing a star born in Jaden. He will be every bit as good as his father and we all know how great he is! For a 2 hour and 20 minute film, it coasted with ease and I never felt restless.

This is how a remake should be done. They paid great homage to the original while creating their own thing at the same time. My friend told me he was upset that this was nuthin like the original and I had to disagree.
[Show spoiler]Jacket on, jacket off (wax on, wax off.) Crane kick (similar kick at the end.) Karate Tournament (both films had this.) Intentional leg breaking in tournament (both films had this.)
There's much more and I thought it was executed very well. I was emotionally involved through the whole film and I felt like I was right there
[Show spoiler]at the tournament
in the end going through the same emotions as the crowd and his close ones.

People can hate or not but this is a great film and whether yall like it or not.......Jaden Smith has arrived. Cant wait for part 2. People need to not prejudge and hate on someone for silly reasons. Give props when they are due. If not u will miss the bus! Highly recommend and this is a flawless blu-ray with perfect scores across the board!

Film Rating - 5 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 5 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 5 stars (out of 5)

Changed my initial film rating score from 4 1/2 stars to a perfect 5! Got Em!!

Saving Private Ryan.

First time viewing.
I will be short. Best war movie ever made so far.

Opposite to the popular beleive, I found the ending fight much more intruiging than the begining one. It was extremely realistic and very nerve cutting. I have bitten all my nails during that scene.
[Show spoiler]It sucked though that the Captain died. I didnt expect that. i thought the old guy was him.

Film - 5/5
PQ - 5/5
AQ - 5/5
Overall - 5/5

Ahh, I wasn't as big as a fan of Platoon than Apocalypse Now, though I can see how you would like Platoon more, it feels far more truthly to the frontline and focused more on being there in the war than subtle messages.

Platoon is a better war movie but Apocalypse Now is a better film. Apoc. Now really isn't a war film so much as it is a film about war and about our internal battles. Platoon is a bona fide war film.

While I tend to agree with you just a little, I think Platoon and Saving Private Ryan are just as important when it comes to sending various anti-war messages. Personally, I think coming close to depicting war is far more frightening than any messages sent by Apocalypse Now or Paths of Glory (which I happen to know you like very much as do I). The thing is, SPR and Platoon give me goosebumps and send chills up my spine because there are things in both films which I personally experienced. Although I think AN and PoG are fantastic films, they just don't affect me in the same way.

Likewise

I never took the child character positively as I was meant to follow, and I may have taken it completely differently. This is serving memory, but
[Show spoiler]I wasn't saying that the two older characters lived through happily, nor was she happy, but rather in her fictional book written in her last years for them as characters that suffered through her blame, and hoped they have a better life (I assume she meant afterlife). She is then changed from the little spoiled monster into the person no one understood. She IS the little monster that ruined their lives.

Fight Club (2nd Viewing)

Director: David Fincher
Writer: Jim Uhls
Mains: Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, and Helena Bonham Carter

If you could fight anyone, who would you fight?

Synopsis: Fight Club is a movie involving getting back at the man. A group of men brought together by Brad Pitt and Edward Norton plan to get back at upper class. They bring together this "Fight Club" and operate in convert ways to complete "Project Mayhem". Filled with allot of suspense, mystery and humor.

My Take: I thought Fight Club was ingenious. The story is compelling and it doesn't require your full attention. But i can guarantee it has your full attention with a 2nd viewing. I especially like the attention to detail with every single scene, it really makes anyone who enjoys good direction excited. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are amazing these to elite actors really bring this movie to life with their unique ability that makes you feel like you are living the movie instead of viewing it.

Conclusion: Fight Club is an amazing piece of work. I see why its so heavily label "My Favorite Movie" from a wide range of viewers. As it too struck me with its amazing detail and awesome direction. This is a rare box office treat that deserves a place on any collectors shelf. This title is simply MUST OWN bottom line.

Must Own

I must put this to the test. I just bought Apocalypse Now from BB. I'll watch it tomorrow and lay down my input.

When it comes to war movies there's allot out there but only some focus on the solider or war fighter at hand. Some gave great stories but only a few actually are pretty accurate to the military.

Saving Private Ryan- While very entertaining this is not the life of a solider. Everything that takes place in the movie could happen but its very improbable.

We Were Soldiers- The most accurate solider movie i've seen yet, this is down right gritty!! Its showing you first hand how it would actually be. Without all the Hollywood glamor.

Tears of the Sun- I don't care how you put it, this movie is entertaining and very fun to watch but all those seals would of died in the real world. Good movie but i know this wouldn't of happened like this. No solider disobeys a lawful order from a 0-6!! Better yet put his whole squad in jeopardy for a small village. Gritty but true! But its still a entertaining movie.

Black Hawk Down- The most accurate spec ops movie out there. Based off a true story and felt very real. LOVED IT.

Behind Enemy Lines- FAKE FAKE FAKE. There isn't a satellite in the world that can track your every movement. That technology is unheard of. (Enemy of the State LOL) Sometimes movies can really have a overall effect on the general population. Any who that pilot would of died at the end or probably before that. Still entertaining but barely.

Stealth- Seriously...... Cool concept but no.

Full Metal Jacket- Um i really dont know what to say about this movie, because its really about the minds of marines and the whole boot camp era. Its a good first half movie but i dont think this movie qualifies.

Letters from Iwo Jima- Is GREAT! Eastwood's best work. Cant speak on its authenticity but the movie was damn good. Showing us there side of the War.

Thats my take oh Jhiggy this wasnt directed towards you. Just a general rant.

Thanks for sharing that Rkolinski! Its truly great to have you on our site to give us this kind of perspective you can't get from most people! I can't begin to imagine what that was like -- I'm such a whiner I'll get upset over a broken shoelace Thanks to you, we all have much to be grateful for!
