Cool

Saw the movie last week. I didn't expect a classic like The Fifth Element, just another visual spectacle and it didn't disappoint. Even the 3D was great. My only gripes were the slow beginning
[Show spoiler] taking a long time on that beautiful paradise planet
and the moment you saw Clive Owen
[Show spoiler] you immediately knew he was the bad guy
.

I thought it was fun, and looked great, the leads weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. 3.5, rounded up to 4 in the poll

Valerian reminded me of Keanu Reeves' (over)acting, similar voice too

The film is playing in very few and far locations in my city, I may just wait and catch a 3D showing at the discount theater within the next coming weeks.

Here's hoping that means it's coming to video soon.

Saw it saturday night. It was fun... but really nothing to write home about. Plot was very simple and it was just... ok. Laureline getting kidnapped was just so unnecessary to the plot that it felt weird to have the whole Rihanna/rescue moments for something off-plot.

Then again, the movie is filled with incredible designs and sci-fi stuff that I just relaxed and gazed at everything. That was my favorite aspect of the movie. Felt the romance was a bit forced into the movie as opposed of coming out naturally.

I wouldn't mind seeing more with a bit more of action next time! When they showed the space battle on top of Mul , that was like heck yeah! More of this please!

3/5

Saw it earlier today in 3D and it was ... decent. The visual landscape was impressive and by far the best thing about the movie. Story kind of bored me, though, and I fell into a few brief microsleep naps. The characters just weren't engaging and the camp seemed a bit forced at times. Perhaps it may be a cult film at some point but I'm not in the mood to watch it again for a while.

I agree, that is why I didn't like this. So slow and uninteresting. Like someone said, Lauraline getting kidnapped was pointless and slowed the movie down.

Saw yesterday.
It is the same as it goes for Jupiter Ascending: far from being a masterpiece, it still earned my sympathy by investing money, hard work and talent in trying to offer something a little different.

5 stars for the Rihanna's bit. 3 for the movie.

People trashing this film and it making no money is why we don't get many epic, big-budget original films, instead getting sequels, prequels, reboots, and superhero movies.

The new TV series The Orville was trashed by critics, even though it was a refreshing mix of comedy and sci-fi drama. Thankfully the audience seems to like it and it did well for it's pilot, so maybe it has a chance despite the critics. People claim they want originality, but do they really?

I enjoyed Jupiter ascending. It's not a masterpiece but it's got an epic look and feel to it, and had some great action sequences. Plus, despite the majority apparently, I liked the villain. He was over-the-top but that was his character. He was insane. It was a quirky performance and I liked it because it was something different.

I liked Eddie Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending as well. He definitely didn't phone in his performance.

There is a nice hour-long making-of documentary included with the release of Valerian. I still really like this movie.

Watched the film last night.

Beautiful to look at, bad acting, bad script, not a good film.

My vote: 2 stars

No blu-ray for me

This movie kind of splits me, I really love the visuals, I think the set pieces are amazing but they don't connect in the bigger expectrum of the film, final act is anticlimatic in my opinion. The main actress is meh, she has a few cute bits but doesn't transmit any emotion to me. I think the first 30/45min of the film is classic! So.... Im not sure if Ill get this bluray.

I love the creativity of the movie, but the acting by both actors is bland and that's what kills it.

I'm still going to get it though because the worlds are amazing to look at.

Pretty much how I feel. With better leads, movie would have been much better. Still, I enjoyed it for the most part.
