nope. i called in

bad form? probably (most likely). but i know we're slow so i know no one suffered due to my absence. they've been having us do "busy work" mostly this month.

the pre-Broadway production of 'Frozen' (Denver Arts Center) I saw the other night was fantastic - Disney is gonna have another hit on Broadway!!

Yeah, as I walked by I told the guy bringing the meat in to go put it back on the grill that it wasn't cooked, he looked at them and said "yes they are" I followed that up telling them the meat just off the grill isn't supposed to look identical to what it looked like out of the box. I didn't wait for a response, I just walked outside and took my break. Like I said, I rarely eat lunch at work, any time I do I usually end up regretting it as my job is very physical and if I eat any more than a energy/granola bar I tend to have trouble digesting it.

What the **** am I listening to. I started playing iTunes at one particular song and it's just going now alphabetically and I've never heard this song. I think it was a free weekly download from several years ago...checks iTunes...Everybody Else from Care Bears On Fire. Interesting to say the least!

You piqued my interest, so I had to check it out. Didn't sound too terrible to my ears. Very nice guitar hooks. Has that certain garage punk sound that made me fall in love with bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

So, thanks, you may have helped me discover some cool new music to buy.

EDIT:
Holy cow, they did a cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World."

ok now you have me interested in going back to hear the Everybody Else song just to get a second impression and then maybe I'll give their cover a try. I do like the "Rule" song but sometimes I'm afraid of listening to music that I won't like. But it's like what the hell is the big deal if you spend a few minutes listening to a song you won't like. It's not the end of the world and I've certainly got a lot of free time on my hands

Yeah, I can listen to just about anything and everything. The only thing risked is time and hearing.

The original Tears for Fears version of "EWTRTW" was a favorite of mine when I was in middle school, but I find it can lose its edge after a few hundred listens. The Care Bears on Fire version is like most other punk rock covers I've heard--very fast-paced and loud, but with a certain goofy charm. Maybe not as goofy as songs by The Dickies (who did a bunch of insane punk covers), but I still find it interesting.

I've run across a bunch of interesting covers lately, many of which are punk. Joey Ramone's "What a Wonderful World." Joan Jett's "I Wanna Be Your Dog." Several by the Dickies ("Silent Night," "Sounds of Silence," "Nights in White Satin," "Paranoid," and some alien song). There is a certain anarchic appeal in taking a good classic and defiling it with noise (which I see as the essence of punk), but they do add a fair amount of spirit when they do it.

I'm not real familiar with punk at all. I'd be afraid to dip my toe too deep into that genre lol For covers, one of my favorites is GNR's Knockin' On Heaven's Door. In fact I'm going to listen to that right now Also, I think there is a woooonderful cover of Steven Tyler singing Amazing Grace on YT. I love the song to begin with and Steven's version is beautiful I think. I'm being lazy now but if you're interested in listening to it but are being lazy yourself, I can post the link in my next post

lol Kip, well I went to Costco again today but they were closed for the holiday. I was surprised a picture of my weiner got so many likes on Facebook

I'm going to play conspiracy theorist and claim upper management is attempting to target employee's.

Let's see who gets sick and we can replace them, etc. I know it's a long shot, but a hell of a dirty tactic and worthy of more then a few lost teeth if it were true.

I feel like every time I go into the "movies" subsection, this is what greets me:

Everyone is so serious and angry all the time, haha. That includes me too. I've taken that section waaaay to seriously. It feels like all anyone wants to do is argue. I need to be a bit more chill, so I'm gonna try and be less irritable there. XD

I'm the only person I've ever known who cannot play any instrument, yet who is head-over-heels-crazy for classical music. Gets lonely...

I only played for a very short while. It seems like everyone around me is turned away by classical music. Weird.

That's my housemate's instrument. Unfortunately, because of some facial surgery a couple of years ago, she now has nerve damage in her upper lip, and therefore can no longer play. 😟

That is too bad. The horn is a beautiful sounding instrument.
