1. the Blob isn't that popular of a title- Horror or not.
2.5000 instead of 3000
3. Twilight time has lost a little credibility with their "limited edition"- teasing about Christine reissue, not even 2 years after releasing
4. other Horror titles, hitting other regions.

i think all the above factors- don't make this a fast sellout

sorry- a few people are going apeSH*t over the Blob? have you watched recently?

there's HD version that's being playing on cable for last 3-4 months if not longer, i didn't think it held up that great- the other 3 horror titles were way more popular

1. Are you serious!? LOL The Blob remake is held in high regard by horror fans.
2. So what, it's still limited edition.
3. I don't think they have. So what if the company re-releases a movie years after the original release.
4. Well I'm not gonna wait 3 years for The Blob to get a possible European release. I'm ordering my copy today so I can watch it in a few weeks.

Or not. But it'll be close.

EDIT: 2 posters beat me to it.
The site is already crashed or something. Just checked and:

"Server Error
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

Could not connect to JRun Server."

That's because it's the crappy US remake.

Everyone else is very excited for the Criterion original release.

SAE had posted earlier on their site today that they would be doing some maintenance on their site starting at 9pm PST, so any errors on their site now are to be expected.

Hopefully this sells out tomorrow so Screen Archives can get busy shipping copies real fast before the street date.

Hopefully, it does not sell out too fast. It would be good if all interested parties here can score a copy.

Couldn't you just order a copy tomorrow and chose money order as a payment and get the money order on Saturday and then mail it to Screen Archives? If you really want this movie that bad this could work in case it does sell out fast.

Man, night before and still not sure if I want this or not. $35 is a heck of a lot for a movie like this with no real special features. The DVD is $5 on Amazon. Very conflicted.

Guess I'll make a gut decision tomorrow.

I had the DVD for years. It still looks good on a blu ray player which upscales. Clear, good detail, colour etc. just as good as DVDs looked before HD came along.

Not seen any disc reviews on this TT title (do they come out before releases?) so who knows how great the PQ will be?

I've seen a few DVD upscales. While they're respectable, they do not amount to a true 1080p source/remaster

Of course they don't.
But there have been plenty of blu rays released with average or poor rated PQ. Weird Science is a good example where if the BR was $35 or the DVD was $5, it probably isn't worth the extra cost. Not a huge difference in PQ.

DVD is still a quality format and movies, especially modern or well looked after classics (Older Bond films as an example) can still look great with a decent system.

Weird Science looks like garbage on bluray, but its the only way to see it with original music and dialogue.

But I still believe in dvd's too
