This marks the cheapest price, I believe, for any incarnation of the box set. Though wasn't there a Gold Box deal at one point for about this price? I know the price graph doesn't always catch those.
I can recommend it as a blind buy to anyone that likes Sci-fi. It's a great show, and one of those that improves when watched in quick sequence like this. Much like Buffy, some fans became disgruntled with a week between shows and the tonal shifts, but when watching an entire series from beginning to end like this and viewing it as a whole gives you a much different perspective. It's famous for "jumping the shark" late in season 2, I believe, and becomes a different kind of show. But by the end I really felt it was a good thing, and it's easily in my top 5 dramatic series. For taste comparison, my other four are Lost, Buffy/Angel, Dallas, and Alias. That said, I don't own it yet and am not biting today. I've come close today, and a few times, to getting it - but it's just that personally I don't have the time to watch it anytime soon. I just watched it all for the first time last summer, and it will probably be a year or two before I have time to watch it again (I have a stack of about 30 Blu's right now). I'll pick it up on BF or the next time it goes on sale - but if you've never seen it before, I highly recommend to pick it up today if at all possible - you owe it to yourself to watch such a great show. |

I REALLY should jump on this since I've been waiting for a good long while for it, but with two small kids, I just don't know when I'd find the time to even enjoy this.
Maybe I could get it now and then crack it open in about 5 years when my boys are old enough to possibly enjoy it.... ![]() |

I've been wanting to get this for quite a while, but I still have some other TV seasons that I haven't watched yet, so I'll likely hold off. This set might not be close to this price for quite a while again, but there's always the UK set to fall back on since that's usually always a decent price.

I thought about waiting for Black Friday for this to break $100. This is tempting...but must be patient.

I bought it yesterday on Amazon... just started watching the first season that I've owned on HD-DVD for years. The 3rd disc is ****ed up due to the crappy packaging and will only work on one of my players, so this is right on time!

does anybody who rents blus on Netflix have this same problem?: when i try to put a Battlestar Galactica disk into my queue, even though it says it's also available in Blu-ray, it will only show "DVD" on the queue and no pull-down menu to switch to blu. pretty frustrated with it, what a tease!

Just tried it, when I select any disc to add to my queue, it uses the Blu-ray...
I rented Season 1 and the last disc of Season 4 a while back, got the Blu-rays... So it should work. I never had to use a pull-down to change it, it just defaulted to Blu... (It's funny, I don't see a way to actually order the DVDs if I wanted them instead... ![]() |

I just finished watching all 4 seasons on netflix and WOW! I was completely blown away how good this show was. I will truly miss it now that its over. The last season, especially the last three episodes were just amazing. I think the last three episodes puts most blockbuster Hollywood movies to shame! Truly an amazing show and ranks up there as one of the television greats!
I will definitely be buying this to re-live the journey all over again! |

Just bought the boxset earlier this week. I'm just at Disc 3 of Season 1 but it's looking great so far and probably the best this series will ever look in any format. There are some interlace problems in episode 5: "You Can't Go Home Again"(watch closely the scene where Helo jumps over the bar table while trying to avoid Cylon gunfire) but that's minor nitpicking. The packaging is also a bit crappy especially the thin plastic that holds all the discs. When i open my set, some of the discs for Season 1 and 3 was loose because the thin plastic handle broke off.

Sorry if i bring up an old thread, just wanted to mention this issue: I've just watched the finale "Daybreak"(and so completed viewing my entire boxset) and noticed something is wrong during my entire viewing experience. It just doesn't have the "oomph"/kick it once had when I watch it on the TV broadcast. Then i went to check a recorded version of the broadcast i had some time ago and found out the reason: Bear McCreary's score is too soft on the blu-ray! The dialogues and sound effects somehow drowned the musical score especially during the final battle! The sharp strings and drum beats felt a little too soft even when there's not much going on( Bear's music play great importance in this finale and every drum beat fits the scenes perfectly giving the show the extra kick just like any great scores) I doubt newcomers to the series will care much but to a long time BSG fan, this is a little disappointing(including the missing "The Face of the Enemy" webisodes issue). Makes me question the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 they have...

According to Digital Bits, the US is not:
And here's a little bit of disappointing news: Universal has told me that they currently have no plans to release Caprica: The Complete Series on Blu-ray Disc here in the States. Let's hope that changes in the new year. |
