Is there any info about subtitles?
On bluray.com it says "see individual releases", but no info there.

Need MoRE SCREENS! Is it just me or is that with the warmer grading?! And it looks as though they’ve retained the original UNIVERSAL logo at the opening instead or replacing it with the modern one. Hope that doesn’t mean they’ve retained the over-sharpness part either.

And dang it’s still standard HD for Canada

It'll be the same grading (or at least close to it) they used for the 3D. It's the same 4K master.

Keeping a logo has nothing to do with sharpness.

I know I know but c’mon, it’s a fair guess considering it’s Universal and it’s possible they’ve used an old master again and slapped a 4K stretch and called it a day. Of course that’s not what I’m assuming or want

EDIT: So I decided to stream my Digital HD copy anyway off of iTunes via iPhone X, regardless of the 4K/HDR logo not being there.

Maybe I'm crazy but I noticed the blacks are deeper. I compared the same scene/shot (where Ellie and Grant first witnesses the brachiosaurus) streaming the Digital HD Copy on PC iTunes. The one on PC appears to be the same dated transfer. But my phone's blacks are much deeper, even with the HDR turned off (and yes, my monitor is calibrated too). The grading is also warmer but not to the level the 3D version produced.

Yeah I can also confirm (after brief browsing) on my iPhone X, it's a new transfer! I've had the digital copy for years, but it now looks different. Color grading is warmer, blacks are deeper. I can't screen cap them off my phone, but liking what i see so far. There's some grain too; doesn't look too scrubbed.

NOTE: Also, isn't nearly as orange as the 3D version. Looks more naturally filmic.

Comparing to Beaver caps, the iTunes version looks maybe a little bit better but nothing mind-blowing (watching in HD on my LG monitor). But it's streaming, so...

O calm down that’s just based on our expierences so far (in terms of seeing if it’s based on a new transfer or not). Otherwise it’s not to say it’s the definitive way to compare. And plus iPhones are actually well calibrated in terms of colour and gamma accuracy. But needless to say, there are indeed differences that jobalexang and I noticed too. Still want to hear from a larger screen perspective otherwise.

I was actually joking, no biggie

I think all of us wanted to see a more memorable or impactful scene though

I’m crying right now. Those shots are so beautiful. Reminds me of when I first experienced this in theatres during its 2013 re-release.

I’m currently downloading by HDR Digital Copy because streaming it isn’t doing justice.

To my knowledge Apple didn’t allow the 4K file to be downloaded, only the HD. Did that change?

Only for iPhone X’s as far as I know. I did remember hearing 4K is only available via streaming elsewhere. More storage space is required if downloaded hence the option to turn on or off HDR under the settings.
EDIt: It’s still 1080p but with HDR. That’s probably why downloading is ok for mobile.

Edit: Further observations made with my now-downloaded copy.

- the grading is definitely warmer than the 2011 version but not as warm as 2013’s. One can argue that the 2013 version is too warm so in a way this is a compromised measure between both. However I can’t help feeling it should be slightly warmer, especially at the scene with the herd of Gallimimus. There was sun flare at top screen when Alan was staring into the distance, which is kind of asking for “warmer” temperature.

- The stage light goof remains intact unsurprisingly (3D version corrected this among other things)

- grain is thankfully maintained this time around as jo mentioned earlier. Edge enhancements remains to be seen

Overall this is already a triumphant improvement over the 2011 version. All I want to know now is if the standard 1080p Blu-Ray will be receiving the updated transfer.

Can anyone confirm that this transfer is different from the 3D and 2011 release (aside obvious resolution and HDR changes).

Dying to see some direct feed comparisons. Seems weird Universal hasn't talked about it officially yet.

There's nothing wrong with that. We boys always want to be close to our mums. There's nothing perverse going on there. It's not even sexual. As a child, one's ideas of romantic relationships are more platonic; like fairy tales of prince and princesses. This is also the phase we begin to expand our horizons in terms of relationships. Laura Dern represented that transitioning phase for you. You found qualities in her (softness, innocence, strength and maternal instincts) that you have received from your mother.
And then wanting her to be your girlfriend is a innocent extension of that desire - to have more people in your life that have those qualities, especially someone who to you was an equivalent of a fairy princess, perhaps.
Most "normal" people feel like that. We only start to see the difference (or lack of) when we grow up.

Also, no one will EVER replace your mother! There is no one like her and never will be.
I love Laura Dern A LOT too! But I don't have memories of wanting her to be my mother. Girlfriend, to some extent, perhaps. I was too obsessed with dinosaurs.
However, I did idolise Sam Neill for all my growing up years. When young, I wanted him to be my father. When I was an adolescent, I wanted to be like him and was dressing like him, parting my hair like him and even changed my personality to be like that of Sam Neill. I was talking like he did, moving my eyes like him. Alan Grant helped me grow up. I'm past that phase now. Now I'm happy discovering more about myself.

This is me by the way, 11 years ago, dressed in an outfit resembling the one worn by Sam Neill in JP3. This is inside a wildlife preserve which used to be a game hunting property for Nawabs. -
