UV essentially still exists, but just under a different name now. All you did was predict that a specific flavor went kaput, not an entire product or industry. I can predict that Sears will file bankruptcy very soon; does that mean all big box stores are similarly ill fated? At the most basic level there is a 50/50 chance that any specific business will fail. Again, more like guesswork than prognostication.

Had you predicted the exact date of, and exact manner of, UV's failure, that would be something. You didn't, so it isn't terribly impressive as what UV formerly did is still being done, just under a different name now.
The discussion was UV at the time, nothing else.

While I find some here to be more exasperating, at times, than others, I do not dislike anyone on these forums. I have NEVER placed anyone on the ignore list, for example.

I have never required that my actual friends agree with me on any and everything I say. I would never place such closed-minded and arbitrary conditions upon a friendship. My friendships are real and can easily accommodate differences of opinion, even the occasional dose of sarcasm!

There's plenty wrong with Windoze 10, but there is a whole other thread for those wanting to go down that rabbit hole. I am keeping my Windows 7 until the last minute of the last hour and maybe longer.

I go back to the abacus, myself.

My high school had a donated IBM mainframe that we used to write (bad) Fortran programs for.

And this was the first computer game I ever played. (it wasn't on a monitor though, it was on a printer).

[Show spoiler]
Yes, I had a Fortran class at Glendale College, CA with those Key Punch Cards. Had to figure out those programs then run those cards for errors. Lot's of fun!

Windows 7 was very good, I had it for a long time, but Windows 10 with the start like Win7 works well. Most of the problems are with the users or the compatibility of the Hardware. I've had it for several years now with no problems. Just keep it updated and you should be okay.

Yes I never wanted to be an Apple Clone, I stayed on the PC side and even have a Microsoft Phone. Windows 10 are okay you just have to keep them updated properly, and use good equipment.

You mentioned before that the two services you mainly use are Vuda and Sony Ultra. Now that Microsoft joined Movies Anywhere, will you mainly be using Microsoft Movies and TV for streaming or do you already mainly use that service?

Well, I have never been a clone. That much should be obvious by now!

They are just far more effective for what I want. Far less fuss and get the job done. Personally, I found most versions of Windows a headache.

However, the fact you have a Microsoft phone? No dude, just no!

Apple, especially with multiple devices, is one the easiest and nicest ways to multitask and file share. Apple would have implode or it come out they are ran by Hydra before I’d drop them at this point. I switched over a decade ago and I ain’t going back.

AirDrop alone is worth it. Simple, no fuss computing. Hours of image editing without crashes or lock ups. Stylish hardware, efficient software, what’s not to like?

I mainly use Amazon Prime and Vudu, but I'm Linked through MA to these and Sony Ultra. I have Android Apps to all the Streaming Providers, except iTunes. I access them all like YouTube, MA, SonyCrackle, and lot's of others.

No. The college did have a IBM Model 360 located just a couple doors down from the electronics lab/classroom. It used core memory. Here is one you should like, we used paper tape punch (data) for many years with our DEC PDP11-04 based CMX-340 A/V editing system. Later, we added 8" floppy drives but continued to save the final EDL to paper tape.

All of this gave way to non-linear editing using Avid systems. Avid Pro Tools for audio and Avid Media Composer for video. AFAIK, Avid is pretty much the standard in the TV and Movie industry for A/V editing.

Home Automation: I would be interested in the items you have chosen when you finish your automation project.

I would not be surprised if that continues to be true.

Yeah, I’m not that way inclined. I just want efficiency and good looks. I was never remotely interested in opening up computers or adding this or that. When the IMac came along it seemed perfect for my needs. (Mostly image editing and just browsing) I have also been very loyal to MacBooks for work and play.

I really, and I mean really appreciate that. What about iPhones, have one? If not, don't you want one. I say all of this because we have a sizable chunk (for us) invested in Apple.

Yes, I was one of the few that has one, they are discontinued. They still are fully supported, and I love mine. It runs Windows 10 with the Tiles. Works Great!
