More recently, there are people who believe that 9/11 was part of a government conspiracy. Then there is this Kennedy assassination theory promoted in Stone's JFK. The problem I have with this film is that it totally ignores the fact that there are a lot of nuts out there, some who just happen own a gun. [And I guess I should point out in advance that this has nothing to do with what I think about gun ownership, since I not only served in Vietnam but was also an Expert marksman.] The movie totally ignores the lone gunman theory, which happens to be the way most assassinations have happened historically, not only in this country but in the rest of the world (Archduke Ferdinand, Gandhi, JFK, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, John Lennon, etc., etc. I was recently watching a series of programs about Adolph Hitler on the Military Channel and he was even quoted in one of the programs as saying that if a lone gunman wanted to kill him, no amount of protection could prevent it; he lived in a military state. The closest we have come in this country to a real assassination conspiracy is the Lincoln assassination; and I mention that only because a number of assassins were involved. However, I do not believe that the South was behind this particular conspiracy. Again, this is just my view and you are entitled to yours.
i can agree with the lone gunman theory with other assassinations but this was done professionally with multiple personnel. Maybe you should watch the movie again. As you mentioned about platoon stone can add his interpretations such as many other directors. But there's nothing that seems far out about this assassination.

Im a firm believer that when things like this happen in America some higher organization knows its going on. I never believed this until i joined the military. Now im a firm believer in conspiracies, only if you knew the half.

I really don't need to watch it again to understand either the movie or the director because I am very familiar with Stone's work. Also, regarding your statement (based on this movie and other THEORIES) "this was done professionally with multiple personne;l" this again is just a THEORY. There have been other tests which have shown that Oswald could have fired those 3 shots alone. Again, I'm not trying to change what you think so I hope you would show me the same respect without assuming what I think or telling me that I need to watch this movie again.

No, I haven't seen Nixon yet. Perhaps I'll watch it the next time it comes on cable.

This movie has been in the back of my mind since first seeing it. I haven't bought the DVD in hopes that a Blu-ray is coming.

On a related matter, my copy of Antichrist is on its way .

As I understand it, "Alien 3" was originally scripted to take place on a monastary on a planet with an extremely thin atmosphere (I think it was supposed to be like so many feet thick). In the end, they didn't have the budget for it; screwing around with the story and the struggle between the director and studio made it turn out the way it is now...

I was only messing with you for the most part and ripping off part of a quote from the movie. I'd rate it higher than you did, but it's all good.

Trick 'r Treat - 2nd viewing of the film as the first viewing was last October. This is a great movie to watch during the Halloween season. One of the better anthology films but with all the stories tied together with some sort of connection. My favorite story is either the
[Show spoiler]girl werewolfs or the school bus.
This movie is a fun ride and overall enjoyable experience. I have to retract an earlier statement a few days ago when I said I liked Trick 'r Treat better than The Thing. After watching both again for a 2nd time today I actually prefer The Thing over Trick 'r Treat but I like both.

Film Rating - 4 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 4 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 4 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!

Just watched the original Walking Tall with Joe Don Baker. A great film based on reality. My boyfriend is from Tennessee and remembers the real life Buford Pusser and was telling me insights as we viewed it.

House of 1000 Corpses - Ummm Zombie and his films sometimes are hard to figure out. Still trying to figure out if I like it or not. I think it was a pretty good movie but he sometimes goes over board with things and some things couldve been left out. Sheri Moon was annoying and she was one of my biggest complaints. All the weird shots of infomercial type stuff kinda went over board to. Other than that I thought it was a decent gory horror film. Bill Moseley was my fav character in the film. The fun had some very cool moments but then Zombie would do sumthin weird and I would be like WTF!! All in all I enjoyed it but not sure if I would watch it again. Got Em!!

Film Rating - 3 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 4 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 4 stars (out of 5)

Aside from its authenticity if this was based off a fake person this would be considered the BEST political thriller of ALL TIMES.
I dislike the film and find the theories plausible to an extent but also ridiculous, and it had nothing to do with political affiliations or beliefs (a topic which is banned on this site).

People said the same thing about the travesty of a film known as Loose Change, which is my #1 most despised film of all-time and the "filmmakers" being my most despised individuals in the entertainment realm. They should quite literally be locked up. Stone sought to create a quality film with JFK and I don't fault him for that. Loose Change did not and all copies of it should be burned.

I get what Disturbed is saying, even if it isn't applicable to Antichrist (despite its name). I personally wouldn't want to view a film that takes the stance about Christianity that Disturbed thought Antichrist might either. Being open to things is def important, but there's a line.

Like usual, you raise interesting points. The Lincoln story I think is interesting and if memory serves me correctly, there will be a film coming out regarding that theory (not the Spielberg Lincoln movie, which unfortunately lost Liam Neeson).
