Well I just finished collecting the first 5 Blu-Rays about 6 weeks ago(and 3 are brand new still wrapped in the plastic)

Now the same day the give a release date for the Half Blood Prince(Awesome movie,by the way)They also reveal new box set additions of the first and second movies with extended editions of the films for $49.95(Then they also are offering the first 2 movies in a non-box set extended edition(with the new looking cases)for $35.99.

I should have figured this was going to happen. The only thing I can say is oh well at least its at Christmas Time.I will have to sell my copies of the first 2 movies and add the 2 box sets as replacements.

All the while making sure I buy the same day release of the Half Blood Prince(which has the same dark colored packaging, but with a sweet looking lenticular design).

These are all some hard announcements to stomach after collecting all the individual Blu-Rays out now,but what can you do.
I wouldnt change if it wouldnt be for the added footage(even if it is only 9min and 13min).But thats how the Blu-Ray world seems to spin with multiple double dips.

I am really confused about this
The way they word it on the Forums Home Page News is the new relwase of the Half Blood Prince, is the same edition as the current movies out now.
So it will be a while before the "New Ultimate Edition" of the Half Blood Prince will be released.

Heres a link that should help clarify the situation:

I'll stick with my theatrical editions and maybe get the extended editions once they're all out and in a box set.

They always make extended versions of movies that I think are too long to begin with.

I'll happily rebuy shorter versions of King Kong or any Harry Potter movie.

I like the shorter "theatrical" versions of LotR as well.

My kids have watched my Harry Potter Blus many times. I used to not be able to sit through a Harry Potter movie without falling asleep but I can now and presto... someone wants to make them even longer.

Where are you seeing the $49.95 boxset for 1 and 2?

I'm in the same boat, we too just finished collecting all 5 movies on blu about a month ago when these ultimates started popping up on Amazon and other places. Kinda sucks, but they'd make a good X-mas present for sure.

I read that the other Ultimate Editions were going to gradually come out with the Theatrical and/or Home Video release of the Deathly Hallows. Shouldn't be long, considering how close the next one is.

Heres the link(kindly supplied by a fellow forum member).
The price is listed under the colored box that lists the contents of the box sets.Under the listings for set # 2 it says:

The DVDs, which will be released on December 8th along with the Half-Blood Prince set, can be pre-ordered at Amazon starting October 13th here (priced at $39.92 on DVD and $49.99 on Blu-ray):

Hope this provides some help. And looks as if several Harry Potter Fans will have the first 2 Movies(Blu-Ray)Versions for sale(Used) at a low price by the beginning of December.

Consideirng the pictures of the sets broken down are the Blu-Ray ones, I'm pretty darn sure.

Cause you can see the 3 discs.

And yeah, as others have said... 3 discs is more than enough when it comes to Blu-Ray.

Glad I'm holding out on these. I'm sure there will be plenty of editions released before Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 is released.

Agreed. By then we'll have Harry Potter the Deluxe Uber Order of Merlin First Class Snitch Catcher Horcrux Destroyer Edition as authorized by JK Rowling's pet Goldfish... with stickers.

Yeah supposedly ALL the Potter films will be given this same Ultimate Edition treatment but I'm wondering how long until the others are released. Maybe films 3 and 4 will be out sometime mid-2010 and then 5 and 6 during the holidays (right before Deathly Hallows Part 1 is released in theaters.) Kind of like the Lord of the Rings EEs with the two-disc theatricals and then the larger box loaded with features and the longer editions.

yeah i hope we don't have to wait long for nr. 3-6 and of course 7 and 8(Hallows1+2) of the ultimate editions. And hopefully the extended editions is like the LOTR with awesome footage put in and not just footage form the deleted scenes aka ABC versions

Do anyone know if is the lame extended ABC versions?

My guess is that we'll see 3 and 4 out around November 2010 to coicide with DH part 1 theatrical release, followed by 5 and 6 out around mar/april 2011 to coincide with DH Bluray release, then 7 and 8 out around october 2011 to coincide with dh Part 2 Bluray rlelase (deathly hallows part 2 UE will probabaly street the same day as the basic 2 disc special edition)

I'm not sure why you're referring to the ABC Family cuts as "lame." They are the only "extended editions" of the HP films in existence--essentially the same as the DVD versions, but with the deleted scenes cut back in. There aren't any other versions, TMK.

Yeah but think about it. If they only release the movies with the excisting deleted scenes of all the films. It would be pretty lame because those deleted scenes are just lame. They have to have cut much more important stuff especially for film 3-6. If they only release the ABC versions as the ultimate editions it will be VERY DISAPPOINTING to say the leat!
