Just about all of them with the exception of the Pink Floyd, as every one of the 30th Anniversary pressings was a hybrid SACD, so it's miles away the #1 selling SACD also.

The Elton John SACD's are still pretty easy to find too, but that won't last much longer.

Hey Steve,

What SACD was that Toto song from you played when I was over? I would love to pick that up.

It's from the Toto IV SACD. There are three versions, a Stereo SACD only, a Hybrid SACD with both CD stereo, SACD stereo and SACD 5.1 and an SACD with both the 2.0/5.1 tracks. The stereo track is mixed by Greg Ladanyi, the 5.1 by Elliot Scheiner.

The latter is the one I have. All 3 are ridiculously high in price right now though, used even for over $200.

Does anyone know if the Pioneer 610 is capable of playing DVD-A and SACD through HDMI?

Does it have the DVD_A and SA-CD logo on the front face? Also, if your receiver doesn't support DSD you won't get the maximum from it.

dobyblue and others can better elaborate on the technical side of why that is so.

What's the full model #? The only 610 that comes up with a search is the DVR-610 which is a PC drive and is not capable.

OK, quick question. I have an old-school Kenwood KVR-517 (part of a HTiB, optical and coaxial, along with analog jacks), and a new Sony BDP-S470 (HDMI only, no analog outputs). Would there be any advantage to trying an SA-CD? Or I guess I could get a Hybrid SA-CD for now.

Thoughts? Thanks

I'm trying to wrap my head around how you'd even have sound

If your Blu only has HDMI out and your receiver doesn't have HDMI in.....then how do you plan on getting sound? Maybe I'm missing something.

In general, it would never hurt to get a Hybrid as you could always enjoy it as God intended down the road when you get a proper SACD player and/or receiver that supports DSD. That said, I absolutely LOVE my analog stereo setup.

Coax out from S470 to AVR. Or would Optical be better? Nevermind, I'm using my one Optical connection from my AVR for my DirecTV box.

so unless i misunderstood what you were asking then yes, to your question about the hi-rez audio via hdmi for this player. if i was into other region dvd's i would buy this player; good find!

best of luck

if you have $200.00 you can buy a cheap receiver (3D ready too) like i did for my basement office's secondary small HT setup i have the Onkyo TX-SR308 receiver with HDMI 1.4a and it supports DSD too so I can recommend it to you, it will do the job and get you upgraded to SACD/DSD via HDMI, DVD-a via HDMI and of course, HD audio codecs, yes, all the lossless audio codecs DTS-HD-MA & Dolby TrueHD support. it also has optical & digital coax which are the two you have on your old HTiB now, plus more. not a lot of money and it will be a hugh upgrade over the receiver you have now. it doesn't have multichannel analog inputs but, you won't need that, simply use the HDMI inputs and your done, single cable action!

i use it in my basement and love it. got it for under $200 from newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882120164 and when i'm in my basement office and don't want to go upstairs to the main HT area (where all the big stuff it) i simply use this receiver downstairs and watch my 1080p movies with lossless audio or listen to SACD/DSD or DVD-a from the oppo 80 and i'm a happy camper!

you don't need to spend a lot of money to upgrade your receiver. it's gonna be a hugh upgrade over what you have right now and i own it so i can speak from experience. i have never had a problem with this working that was the fault of the receiver.

keep us posted, best of luck.

I have found most DVD-A/SACD players that stream DSD stick to HDMI 1.2 interfaces.

Or if your player will convert DSD directly to analog, you can use the mutli-channel analog outputs and still have the same signal chain.

Both optical and coaxial support the same codecs and PCM bit-depths/sampling rates.
