Not sure. Because they can have pull over run times and what not. It seems like this would be about the time it might be going through that too. But who knows, if Scorsese just turned in his first cut, there's a chance it hasn't...Yet. But maybe they'll screen this first cut for reactions, to see if it really does need to be edited down or not.

Ah, got it. I haven't read the book yet, so I wasn't sure. Either way, it's amazing how crazy the censorship is to hide sex and nudity, and even drug use, very real life things, but violence can go so overlooked at times.

Oh well, I just want what's best for the movie. Hopefully he can keep the cut at closer to three hours, without the ratings problem. That's my hope for this outcome.

I can't really recommend the book as it's written by such a despicable person and it's pretty tawdry but I get why Scorsese would pick it and how it could give him the platform to give him and people of that ilk/era their comeuppance.

I wouldn't mind if this was going to be 3 hours. Shame it has to be trimmed.

The studio cut has only just been assembled and shown, so probably not yet.

I like this trailer and hearing Kanye West's song that goes along with it.
Two... for whoever came up with that idea.

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Likely for Christmas Release, Pushing ‘Jack Ryan’ Into 2014

Briefly: Previously on The Wolf of Wall Street, filmmaker Martin Scorsese was reported to be highly unlikely to make his November 15 release date. That lead many insiders to believe the film would be pushed to 2014. Then, it looked like he might only need a few weeks, so Paramount could release the Wall Street period piece, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey, in time for Oscar consideration at Christmas. The problem with that was Paramount had another Christmas release, Kenneth Branagh‘s reboot Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

The Los Angeles Times is now reporting that the situation many assumed would end up coming to pass will actually happen: Paramount will release The Wolf of Wall Street on Christmas Day and bump Jack Ryan into first quarter 2014. An official announcement should be made this week.

Good. I'd rather have this come out first before Jack Ryan.

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Officially Set for December 25th; Will Run at 165 Minutes

Briefly: We previously reported that Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street would likely be released on December 25th. The story, based on Jordan Belfort‘s memoir, chronicles the broker’s rise and fall as he vast riches lead him into a hedonistic lifestyle. According to THR, Paramount chairman Brad Grey officially gave a go-ahead for the Christmas release date after seeing Scorsese’s new cut late yesterday. Scorsese’s original cut ran over 180 minutes, but the final runtime is 165 minutes. The movie looks insane, but it will also be the biggest prestige picture on December 25th opening opposite The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, 47 Ronin, Grudge Match, and the Justin Bieber documentary Believe. It may not win the box office that weekend, but it could have a serious shot at getting into the awards race.

The Wolf of Wall Street stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, Cristin Milioti, P.J. Byrne, and Ethan Suplee. The new trailer will be released later today.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Scorsese has ever released a 'directors cut' or 'extended cut'. He seems to be all about the theatrical cut being the only version. So thanks to Paramount we will never see this 3hr version.

Maybe this will be a break from that tradition. If the extra footage is Jonah Hill material, then it can stay cut.

I've always wanted to see his original cut of Gangs of New York, as much as I love that film, you can tell that things are missing.

I'll be happy as long as this scene wasn't included in the cuts.
