Might be similar to The Mummy Trilogy (in the US) so when JW:FK premieres we get a boxset, then a few months later we could get individual releases when JP:FK comes to home video.

Or it could be the other way around, individual releases now and a boxset with JW:FK when that comes to home video.
I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but in France they will come out both as individual releases and as a Tetralogy (4 set box). Picture of release plan from Universal.

I wonder if Universal will include the 4K master on the BDs as well. I doubt it, but I can dream, right?

I'm curious as to why more studios don't release a new blu-ray from the new 4k master a a way of pushing the higher priced product.

They probably want consumers buying into the new format. I know it’s an ass thing to say but I hope it forces consumers to upgrade. Just means more 4K content in the pipe.

If Universal isn't giving The Post a UHD release, does that change Fox's plans domestically?

I doubt that. Doesn’t Fox release like all of their theatrical movies on 4K disc?

In addition to the UHD disc being a "premium," they probably also don't want to spend extra money authoring and pressing a disc that will only be basically a bonus in a 4K set.

If I were a studio supporting UHD BD, I wouldn't release a remastered BD at this point. It just encourages people to stay with BD and gives them less urgency to upgrade to UHD BD. I mean what better way to get people to jump into the new format with something like 2001, Jurassic Park, Die Hard, and a lot of other catalogs.

I so left out a few key words of my comment. What I meant to write was why they don't include a new blu-ray from the 4k master with the 4k release. That is, if they want people to buy the more expensive UHD release then providing something enticing for people who don't yet own a UHD player might be a good idea.

That doesn't help sell more players. Someone will just keep watching the accompanying remastered BD each time and never upgrade. The UHD industry needs to sell not just more discs, but players too in order to thrive over the long haul.

Furthermore, I don't see the big deal of upgrading at this point in time. You can buy a Sony UHD BD player for $200 and get a decent UHD display for a very reasonable price. Most people on this forum have spent far more on their BD collection. It doesn't take a car loan to jump into UHD nowadays.

Nah. F*ck em. People need to get on board buying 4K UHD discs (even if they don't have the tech, its smart future proofing) for us all to benefit in the long run We don't want this format to be suffering a LD trajectory 5 years down the line

It's nice when a remastered blu is included in the uhd set so I can watch it right now. May be a while before I 'go' 4k setup-wise but still have bought a number of catalog favorites and some newer releases as well.

I want them all so the boxed set is the way to go for me. It would be nice if they're all in a steel book.
