I edited this to be more clarification.. Some people like to troll and read to much into things.. So i left some of the sources below..

Sorry, I don't know how to copy and paste links on here.. If i did, i would..
Also, TDK has shown off their 200gb Blu-ray Disc..
The 200 GB Blu-ray Disc that you are talking about was something TDK prototyped back in 2006, but things never went beyond that stage.

If you also read the article about the games next year.. IE ( GT6 ), a post was made about 200gb disc's to handle the games.. In the article, it mentioned CES 2026.. Big games like Gears 5, GTA 6, Witcher 4, Fallout 5 ( confirmed ) will supposedly around 200-300GB +.. It's also possible, that they could keep using 100GB disc and the rest of storage on digital.
Also, they're post from 2024 and 2025 about TDK making 200GB disc's.. The games disc's were supposed be at CES 2026.. That could easily change..

Dude, just copy the link and paste it here without quoting anyone. Your posts are borderline incoherent gibberish as written.

Regarding GTA6, no, they're not going to make a new disc fomat for the game, or any other game. All consoles would have to be upgraded to handle these new discs, presumably via a firmware update (assuming current drives could handle such discs, which I doubt they would). What they'll do, if there is a physical release, is spread the data across 2-3 discs for the initial install and then download patches as needed. (These days, physical discs are little more than physical licenses for installing games on SSDs.) Sony and Microsoft aren't going to perform major hardware upgrades on hardware already in the field. If anything goes wrong, they're on the hook for repairs and possibly other compensation.

There was some work being done on 8K discs, years ago, but people need to understand that it's not always a "unified roadmap" approach and the "Corporate Alliance" that existed with DVD and later HDTV/BD/UHD-BD is basically dead now, due to streaming dominating media consumption and priorities shifting within the electronics industry. At this point, if there ever is going to be an 8K physical media format in the near future, it would certainly have to be flash-based and it would be prohibitively expensive and the present-day equivalent to D-VHS. That's not to say that it can't happen, but it likely wouldn't, especially due to the decline of 8K TVs in the consumer space and general lack of 8K content being produced.

I'd rather them work on getting 4K more affordable and more widely accessible. I have a whole setup, but working on 8K shouldn't be the priority when 4K is still not as widely adopted at "2K" was. Just my personal opinion.

4K TVs are the norm and are widely adopted, even at the smaller size segment of the market, but cheap HDTVs are still hanging on by a toenail, though it certainly appears that nobody is bothering to make the sizes that people would really enjoy having. Where things get funny, is that the masses aren't really ponying up the money for 4K content, so if they are watching it, it's already included in whatever streaming subscription (Prime Video and Apple TV, for example) they are paying for or they are one of the few who are into UHD-BD.

The thing keeping regular HD alive is largely thrift stores carrying older TV sets. Not everyone has hundreds of dollars to spend on TVs.
